Josh Brolin Will Be Cable In Deadpool 2

12th April 2017 By Tim Isaac

One of the rules of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is that actors are only supposed to be able to play one character (Paul Bettany slightly broke that rule by being the voice of robotic butler JARVIS and then playing Vision in Age Of Ultron), but Josh Brolin has found away around it. He’s playing Thanos in Avengers: Afinity Wars, and by jumping across to the world of X-Men (which Fox owns the rights for), he’s now going to play Cable in Deadpool 2.

THR reports the news, and says we won’t just be seeing Brolin as Cable in Deadpool 2, as he’s signed a four-film deal. That suggests he’s also be around for the planned X-Force movie, and will probably lead that X-Men team when the time comes.

Cable is ‘described as in many ways being the opposite of Deadpool: a man who is a leader and used to being obeyed, who is very controlled but with an aura of simmering violence. In the comics, Cable was from the future and was the adult of Scott Summers, also known as the X-Man Cyclops.’ He has telepathic and telekinetic powers, he also has incredible fighting skilled, somewhat helped by the fact he’s been infected by a techno-organic virus, which has turned him into a part-cyborg.

Deadpool 2 is due out next year.

Our Score

It’s climbing season in the Himalayas and Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) is planning to lead a group of adventure tourists to the summit of Mount Everest. While he keeps telling them how dangerous it is and how many people physically cannot make it, many are gung-ho to get to the top. As they make their way higher up the mountain, Rob decides it’s going to be best to team up with a rival company, led by Scott Fischer (Jake Gyllenhaal), in the hope of keeping things as safe as possible.

After facing illness and other issues that prevent some of them getting to the top, a group of them make it, only to be hit by an extremely nasty storm, which threatens to ensure that none of them will make it back down again. As the team gets separated and faces ever greater threat, it becomes increasingly clear that not everyone is going to make it back alive. [Read more…]

New Hail, Caesar! Trailer – Ralph Fiennes wants Alden Ehrenreich to be a better actor in the Coen’s star-studded flick

12th January 2016 By Tim Isaac

hail-caesar-quadWhile many had expected the Coen Brothers’ Hail, Caesar! to be making an Oscar run, it’s been slightly pushed back, but it still looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. If nothing else their look back at the Golden Age of Hollywood has one hell of a cast.

A new trailer has now arrived, which tells us little about the plot, but certainly gives us a feel for quirky tone we can expect.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Four-time Oscar®-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Fargo) write and direct Hail, Caesar!, an all-star comedy set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age.  Starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill and Frances McDormand, Hail, Caesar! follows a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix.’

The film will be in UK cinemas on March 4th. [Read more…]

Matt Damon, Julianne Moore & Josh Brolin In Talks For George Clooney’s Suburbicon

9th December 2015 By Tim Isaac

matt-damonWhen George Clooney finds someone he likes, he certainly likes to work with them over and over again. With his next directorial effort, Suburbicon, he’s working from a script by Joel and Ethan Coen, which whom he’s collaborated numerous times before, and now The Wrap says that former colleagues Matt Damon, Julianne Moore & Josh Brolin are in talks to star.

Admittedly Moore’s on-screen link to Clooney are slim, as previously he’s only executive produced Far From Heaven, which she starred in. However he’s worked with Damon numerous times, and he’s only recently finished working with Brolin in Hail Caesar (directed by the Coens, who’ve also directed Moore and Damon).

Not much is known about the movie, as plot details are being kept under wraps. However the title suggests things are going to be getting tricky in the ‘burbs.

Whatever it’s about, with a cast like that and plenty of talent behind the camera, it should be one to look out for. There’s no studio attached as yet, but with this package it shouldn’t have difficulty finding backing and distribution. It’s believed Clooney wants to shoot the movie nest year.
