Wonderstruck Trailer – Director Todd Haynes takes us into a Bowie-backed world

20th September 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A couple of years after director Todd Haynes wowed Cannes with the rapturously received Carol, he returned to the festival this year with Wonderstruck. The movie also got good notices for it’s take on two children, born 50 years apart.

Apparently the music of David Bowie infuses the whole thing, as evidenced by the trailer below. Oakes Fegley, Millicent Simmonds, Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams star.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Dased on Brian Selznick’s critically acclaimed novel Ben and Rose are children from two different eras who secretly wish their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he has never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his home and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out on quests to find what they are missing that unfold with mesmerizing symmetry.’

The film will be released in the US on October 20th. No UK date is currently set. [Read more…]

Suburbicon UK Trailer – Matt Damon stars in the George Clooney directed dark comedy

21st August 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The bromance between Matt Damon and George Clooney continues with Suburbicon, which Damon stars in and Clooney directs. To make sure it really is a bit of a love-in, the script comes from Clooney’s O Brother Where Art Thou? and Hail Caesar directors, Joel & Ethan Coen, with contributions from George and his longtime producing partner Grant Heslov.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Suburbicon’ is a peaceful, idyllic suburban community with affordable homes and manicured lawns… the perfect place to raise a family, and in the summer of 1959, the Lodge family is doing just that. But the tranquil surface masks a disturbing reality, as husband and father Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) must navigate the town’s dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence. Suburbicon is this Autumn’s much-anticipated dark comedy, with a fantastic cast also including Julianne Moore, Oscar Isaac and newcomer Noah Jupe.’

Oscar Isaac and Julianne Moore also star. It’s due in US cinemas in October, with a late November 24th UK date set. Take a look at the British trailer below. [Read more…]

Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer – Taron Egerton is back & meeting his American counterparts

26th April 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kingsman was a bigger success than most had expected. It was more than enough to get it a sequel, which will be released later this year. Along with the return of British agents Taron Egerton and Colin Firth (yes, he will return), we will be introduced to the Statesmen, the US version of the Kingsmen.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Kingsman: The Secret Service” introduced the world to Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy…

Alongside the returning Colin Firth, Taron Egerton and Mark Strong, will be newcomers Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, with Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges [Read more…]

Julianne Moore May Be Kingsman 2’s Villain

18th February 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

julianne-mooreThe always excellent Julianne Moore might be bringing out her villainous side soon, as THR reports she’s been offered the bad guy role in Kingsman 2. Assuming she does sign up, Taron Egerton will be back in action trying to stop her.

There’s not too much info on the plot, and nothing about who Moore would be playing. However, in interviews Egerton has enthused about the script, and suggested the new villain is just a good, if not better, than Samuel L. Jackson in the first movie.

It’ not too surprising that Colin Firth won’t be back, but Matthew Vaughn will once more direct. The film will shoot this summer, with a June 16th, 2017 release date already set.
