Tag Trailer – Ed Helms, Jon Hamm & Jeremy Renner don’t want to be ‘it’

20th March 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: ‘For one month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they’ve been playing since the first grade — risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry: “You’re It!”

‘This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they’re coming… and he’s ready.

‘Based on a true story, the New Line Cinema comedy “Tag” shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing.

‘“Tag” is directed by Jeff Tomsic (Comedy Central’s “Broad City”), with a starring ensemble cast led by Ed Helms (The “Hangover” movies, “We’re the Millers”), Jake Johnson (TV’s “New Girl”), Annabelle Wallis (“The Mummy”), Rashida Jones (TV’s “Parks and Recreation”), Isla Fisher (“Now You See Me”), Leslie Bibb (“Iron Man 2”), Hannibal Buress (“Neighbors”), with Jon Hamm (“Baby Driver,” TV’s “Mad Men”) and Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner (“The Hurt Locker, “The Town”).’

Tag is due in cinemas in July. Take a look at the first trailer before. [Read more…]

Wind River Trailer – Jeremy Renner & Elizabeth Olsen reteam as a very different sort of avengers

25th May 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

They not have spent much screentime together in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen must have liked each other enough to reteam for a rather different movie, which sees them hunting a killer in the icy wastes. The movie is Wind River, from Hell Or High Water screenwriter Taylor Sheridan, who also directs.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘U.S. Fish & Wildlife agent Cory Lambert discovers a body in the rugged wilderness of the Wind River Indian Reservation. The FBI sends in rookie agent Jane Banner, but she’s unprepared for the difficulties created by the oppressive weather and isolation of the Wyoming winter. When she employs Cory as a tracker, the two venture deep into a world ravaged by violence and the elements. Wind River is a stark look at life on the edge of an imposing wilderness, where the rule of law is eclipsed by the laws of nature.’

The movie is out in the US on August 4th, with a September 8th UK date set. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Arrival (Blu-ray Review)

21st March 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mark O’Brien
Directed By: Denis Villeneuve
Running Time: 116 mins
BBFC Certificate: 12
UK Release Date: March 20th 2017

Our Score

It’s very rare for a sci-fi film to get Oscar nominations outside of the technical categories, so it’s truly exceptional that Arrival scored eight of them, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actress. It may have won just one Academy Award – Best Achievement in Sound Editing – but it’s still highly unusual.

In the movie, the world is shocked when 12 mysterious ovoid spaceships arrive at various points around the planet, hanging in the sky. One of them is over American soil, so the government decides it needs to know what’s going on. Inside the ship are two aliens – which look like a cross between trees and octopuses – but there’s no way to communicate with them. [Read more…]

Captain America: Civil War Trailer – Get your first look at Tom Holland’s Spider-man

10th March 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

captain-america-civil-war-spider-manWhile there have been quite a few images and posters for Captain America: Civil War, they’ve deliberately shied away from showing us one of the main things everyone wants to see – Spider-man’s first appearance in a Marvel movie. The deal between Sony and Marvel allowed it to happen, and Tom Holland was cast in the role, with Civil War marking his first appearance before he gets a standalone movie.

However, the new Captain America: Civil War makes the big reveal, so get a good look at the new Spidey below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

‘Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo and Martin Freeman, with William Hurt and Daniel Brühl.

‘Anthony & Joe Russo are directing with Kevin Feige producing. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Patricia Whitcher, Nate Moore and Stan Lee are the executive producers. The screenplay is by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts when Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” opens in U.K. cinemas on 29 April, 2016.’ [Read more…]
