Final Star Trek Beyond Trailer – Get ready to boldly go once more

19th July 2016 By Tim Isaac

star-trek-beyondBefore it even started filming, some had decided that the fact Fast & Furious helmer Justin Lin was directing Star Trek Beyond meant it was going to be a disaster. However, the early buzz is that they should have had a lot more faith, with many suggesting this it the best of the rebooted Star Trek bunch.

With only a few days until release, a final trailer has been released to ensure our appetites are suitably whetted.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘”Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew.  In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.’

The film will be in cinemas on Friday. [Read more…]

Idris Elba Takes On The Dark Tower In A Selection Of New Pics

17th July 2016 By Tim Isaac

dark-tower-pic2-slideThe adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower has had a difficult journey to the screen. It’s been talked about for decades, and while this got serious in the last few years with the likes of Javier Bardem attached to the project, it’s stalled numerous times, not least Universal getting cold feet about committing to three films and two connecting TV series.

However, now Sony Picture has taken over, Ron Howard is behind the camera, and Idris Elba is starring as gunslinger Roland Deschain. The character is busying tracking the evil Man In Black (Matthew McConaughey) across various dimension, to try and stop him destroying The Dark Tower, which is where all universes meet.

One of the more interesting things about Dark Tower is the fact that while it’s a fantasy/western series, it connects to many other King novels via characters and places. It appears that will remain to a certain extent, with the movie using a child called Jake, who has a power called ‘The Shine’, which of course refers to Danny’s power in The Shining (although they can’t call the power The Shining, as Warner Bros. owns the rights to that).

A selection of new images from the movie have now arrived, which you can take a look at below. The film is due out next February. [Read more…]

Another New Star Trek Beyond Trailer Arrives

27th June 2016 By Tim Isaac

star-trek-beyond-slideThe rebooted Star Trek has had plenty of success at the cinema, but one thing it’s been lacking is a five-year mission to seek out strange new worlds. However, now it seems it’s getting one, although as you would expect, as the crew of the USS Enterprise head off to strange new worlds, things don’t go smoothly.

The film will be in UK cinemas on July 22nd. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

New Star Trek Beyond Trailer – Chris Pine & co. head for strange new worlds & into action

21st May 2016 By Tim Isaac

Star-Trek-Beyond-Teaser-posterThe first trailer for Star Trek Beyond came in for quite a bit of criticism, not least for being very action-heavy and not Star Trek-y enough for some tastes. However, with the second trailer it seems Paramount feels the best approach is to double down on the action and suggestions of lots of epic special-effects. That said, they have added a few more character moments and suggestions this fits into a larger sci-fi universe.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. The Jungle Book (Cinema Review)

13th April 2016 By George Elcombe

jungle-book-review-slideStarring: Neel Sethi, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba
Directed By: Jon Favreau
Running Time: 105 Minutes
BBFC Certificate: PG
UK Release Date: 15th April 2016

Our Score

As Disney continues to remake their animated classics it’s now time for The Jungle Book to be retold to a new audience as a live action film. Although the term ‘live action’ should be used loosely as the majority of this film is CGI, although its photo realistic and never off putting or distracting.

Based on Rudyard Kipling’s classic children’s book, this is the story of Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a human ‘man cub’ who was found alone by a panther named Bagheera (Ben Kingsley) and entrusted to be raised by a family of wolves. Villainous tiger Shere Khan (Idirs Elba) knows that he will grow up to be a man and bring fire and destruction to the jungle and wants him dead. Mowgli ventures on a journey to the man village where he encounters a host of loveable and fierce animals in this enjoyable yet all too familiar tale. [Read more…]

See Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba & More Next To Their CG Jungle Book Animals

21st March 2016 By Tim Isaac

Jungle-Book-actors1-slideThere are quite a few famous names we will hear but not see in Disney’s upcoming live-action take on The Jungle. All the animals will be CGI, but many will be voiced by well-known actors. It’s a great idea then to release a set of pics showing us the actors alongside their computer-generated counterparts.

The pics feature Idris Elba with Shere Khan, Scarlett Johansson with Kaa, Lupita Nyong’o with Raksha, Ben Kingsley with Bagheera, Christopher Walken with King Louie and Giancarlo Esposito with Akela.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat.

‘Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.

The film will be in cinemas in April. Take a look at the new pics below. [Read more…]
