I’m pretty sure that if a strange child turns up on your doorstep, you’re not allowed to just keep them, even if they do immediately start calling you mum or dad. That’s what happens in The Odd Life Of Timothy Green though, which may sound like a pedophile’s fantasy, but is actually a Disney flick from director Peter Hedges (Dan In Real Life). The film is about a happily married couple, Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton), who cant wait to start a family but after having difficulty conceiving, can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim – and their small town of Stanleyville – learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of lifes greatest gifts. It sounds a bit strange to me, and this trailer doesn’t really help with that, as it’s tough to work out exactly what the film is supposed to be. But click below to take a look anyway.
Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy Teaser Trailer – Are we going to get another Trainspotting?
It seems to be Irvine Welsh day, as earlier we reported on plans to turn his novel Filth into a movie starring James McAvoy, Alan Cumming and Jamie Bell, and now we’ve got the teaser trailer for Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy, based on another of his books. Rarely has a film seemed so much like it wants to be another movie – with the trailer and poster both screaming that this will be another Trainspotting. It means it’s difficult to get a genuine feel for the movie, which stars Kristin Kreuk (Smallville), Adam Sinclair (The Day Of The Triffids) and Billy Boyd (Lord Of The Rings). The movie is mainly based on the story ‘The Undefeated’ from Ecstasy (the book contains three novellas), about two recreational drug users on the rave scene. Click below for the teaser. It should be in cinemas later this year.
New Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy Trailer – Fresh look at the Gary Oldman spy thriller
A brand new UK trailer has emerged for the upcoming thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. The great cast includes Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ciaran Hinds, and it’ll be the English-language debut of Let The Right One In director Tomas Alfredson. Based on John le Carre’s classic novel (famous brought to TV with Alec Guinness starring), about retired British intelligence officer George Smiley (who is often described as being a sort of quiet, anti-James Bond figure, here played by Oldman), who is asked to return to his old agency to discover which of his former colleagues is a Russian spy. The film is set for release on September 26th.
The Sitter Red Band Trailer – Jonah Hill desperately tries to look after the kids
In the intro for The Sitter trailer, Jonah Hill promises the filthiest, R-rated babysitting movie ever – and it also looks like he’s been on a bit of diet since he shot the movie. In the film he play Noah, who’s been suspended from college and gets coaxed into babysitting the kids next door. As always with this sort of flick, he is completely unprepared for the wild night ahead of him. So if you like swearing kids, or indeed swearing at kids, then click below to take a look a the red band trailer for The Sitter. It’s due for UK release on January 27th, 2012.
New In Time Trailer – Best look yet at the futuristic sci-fi tale where no one ever ages
Andrew Niccol (The Truman Show, Gattaca) certainly has a knack for coming up with interesting premises, and that’s definitely true of In Time. We got two trailers for the movie during Comic-Con, and now a third has arrived, which is definitely the best of the lot. Here’s the synopsis, ‘In the not-too-distant future the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. A poor young man comes into a fortune of time, though too late to help his mother from dying. He ends up on the run from a corrupt police force known as ‘time keepers’. With nobody aging, it certainly ensures the cast is filled with pretty young people, with Justin Timberlake, Cillian Murphy, Amanda Seyfried, Vincent Kartheiser, Olivia Wilde, Johnny Galecki, Alex Pettyfer, and Matthew Bomer all starring. It should hit cinemas this October.
The Darkest Hour Trailer – The Emile Hirsch flick is not your usual alien invasion story
The first, rather unexciting image from The Darkest Hour was revealed at Comic-Con. Then came some far more intriguing concept art, and positive reports from those who’d seen the trailer at the San Diego event, which suggested this wouldn’t be the sort of alien invasion flick we’re used to. Now the trailer has been released online, and it does make the movie look pretty interesting. For a start, it’s set in Moscow, which gives the film a different look, but it’s more the alien threat that marks this one out, with the world being attacked by amorphous electric blobs that can completely disintegrate people just by touching them. The film follows five young people (including Emile Hirsch, Max Minghella, Olivia Thirlby and Rachael Taylor) who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. Click below to take a look. The Darkest Hour will be in cinemas early next year.
