Replicas Trailer – Keanu Reeves wants to clone his dead family

8th October 2017 By Tim Isaac

Keanu Reeves must be tired of shooting people in the head for a living, as he’s taking a break from the John Wick universe for Replicas. Alice Eve and Thomas Middleditch also star.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In this sci-fi thriller, neuro-scientist William Foster (Keanu Reeves) is on the verge of successfully transferring human consciousness into a computer when his family is tragically killed in a car crash. Desperate to resurrect them, William recruits fellow scientist Ed Whittle (Thomas Middleditch) to help him secretly clone their bodies and create replicas. But he soon faces a “Sophie’s choice” when it turns out that they can only bring three of the four family members back to life.’

Expect Replicas in cinemas either late this year or early 2018. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

To The Bone Trailer – Lily Collins & Keanu Reeves star in the anorexia drama from Marti Noxon

22nd June 2017 By Tim Isaac

Marti Noxon has an impressive TV resume, including as a producer/writer on Buffy, Angel, and UnReal. Now she’s making her directorial feature debut with To The Bone.

It’s an exceedingly personal project, as it’s based on her own experiences battling anorexia. Lily Collins plays the central role of Ellen, a young woman who ‘is dealing with anorexia. She meets an unconventional doctor who challenges her to face her condition and embrace life.’

Keanu Reeves is the doctor.

Following its Sundance debut, Netflix paid $8 million for the movie, and plans to debut it on the streaming service in July. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Our Score

Picking up shortly after the events of the first John Wick, the titular character (Keanu Reeves) is attempting to once more leave the criminals underworld and his reputation as the ultimate killer behind. However, he is called on by Santino D’Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) to kill someone so that he can take their seat at the underworld’s high table.

John has a debt to Santino that the rules of the underworld say he must repay, or his life is forfeit. Feeling he has no choice, John travels to Rome to do the deed. John Wick: Chapter 2 (Cinema Review)

15th February 2017 By George Elcombe

Starring: Keanu Reeves, Riccardo Scamarcio, Ian McShane
Directed By: Chad Stahelski
Running Time: 122 Minutes
UK Release Date: 17th February 2017
BBFC Certificate: 15

Our Score

For those who didn’t watch the first film let me summarise, and for those concerned about spoilers the story is retold within the first few minutes of the sequel.

John Wick’s wife has recently passed away from an undisclosed illness, and he receives a puppy from her a few days later. Some Russian gangsters then break into his house, beat him up, steal his car, and kill his puppy. It transpires that John used to work for said gangsters father as a legendary assassin. Cue lots of carnage and some of the best choreographed gunplay you have seen on screen, including plenty of headshots. [Read more…]

The Bad Batch Teaser Trailer – Keanu Reeves is a cult leader in a cannibal wasteland

14th February 2017 By Tim Isaac

It’s not a good day when you end up a in wasteland inhabited by bloodthirsty cannibals. However, in The Bad Batch there’s an area of Texas that’s no longer Texas, as it’s been abandoned by the United States and they’re having nothing to do with anyone who enters it – and that’s at least partly due to the cannibals.

Plus, Keanu Reeves shows up as a cult leader.

For what sounds like a low-rent horror movie, The Bad Batch has a surprisingly good cast, with Reeves joined by Jason Momoa, Giovanni Ribisi, Jim Carrey, Diego Luna and Suki Waterhouse. It got an interesting but mixed reception at the Toronto International Film Festival, but it certainly sounds like it might be worth a watch.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The highly anticipated follow-up to [Ana Lily] Amirpour’s acclaimed directorial debut, A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT, THE BAD BATCH follows Arlen (Waterhouse) as she is unceremoniously dumped in a Texas wasteland fenced off from civilized society. While trying to orient her unforgiving environment, she is captured by a savage band of cannibals and quickly realizes she’ll have to fight her way through her new reality. As Arlen adjusts to life in ‘the bad batch’ she discovers that being good or bad mostly depends on who you’re standing next to.’

The movie is due out in the summer. [Read more…]

John Wick: Chapter 2 Super Bowl Spot – The action flick trolls Fifty Shades fans

6th February 2017 By Tim Isaac

You wouldn’t think those people who can’t wait for the release of Fifty Shades Darker would be the same ones hoping to watch John Wick: Chapter 2, but the action movie decided to have a bit of fun with them with its Super Bowl spot. The short ad initially looks like it will be for Fifty Shades, before revealing itself to be something else.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In this next chapter following the 2014 hit, legendary hitman John Wick [Keanu Reeves] is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.’

Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, John Leguizamo and Ian McShane also star, with Chad Stahelski directing. The film will be out in the US on Friday and arrives in the UK on February 17th. [Read more…]
