Final Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer – Felicity Jones heads for a galaxy far, far away

13th October 2016 By Tim Isaac

rogue-one-slideWhile there have been rumours of trouble behind the scenes of Rogue One, with Disney said to be concerned about the tone, and the need for extensive reshoots, in the past few weeks the vibes seem to have been improving for the first of the planned movies that take place outside the main Star Wars story arc. The final trailer has now arrived, which certainly makes it look like this could be a good one.

The film follows the mission that got hold of the Death Star plans that played such a vital role in the first movie, with the trailer not just teasing the planet destroying weapon, but also the fact Darth Vader will feature in the movie. And after the success of Rey, the trailer introduces us to another strong heroine in the form of Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso.

The movie hits cinemas in December. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Final Trailer – Plus news of a special fan event of new footage

28th September 2016 By Tim Isaac

fantastic-beasts-final-poster-slideAt one point, Deathly Hallows was the end. Now we’ve got a new Harry Potter play – Cursed Child – playing in London, and the imminent film spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is on its way. The latter has now released its final trailer, which looks great – familiar enough to those who love everything Potter, while also promising something new.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne (“The Theory of Everything”) stars in the central role of wizarding world magizoologist Newt Scamander, under the direction of David Yates, who helmed the last four “Harry Potter” blockbusters.

‘“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.’

It’s also been announced that fans Will Be Treated to a Special Preview of New Footage From the Film in IMAX, and Can Be Part of a Live Interactive Q & A With the Stars and Director. The worldwide fan event will kick off on Thursday, October 13th, at 8:30 p.m. GMT (3:30 p.m. EDT, 12:30 p.m. PDT) and simultaneously in major cities in the U.S. and internationally.

Take a look below for the trailer and more info on a the event. [Read more…]

First Look At Dylan O’Brien Playing Mitch Rapp In American Assassin

13th September 2016 By Tim Isaac

american-assassin-dylan-obrienDylan O’Brien has had a tough year. He was seriously injured on the set of The Maze Runner follow-up, The Death Cure, which resulted in a lengthy hospital stay and recuperation. However, it hasn’t stopped his star rising, as along with the Maze Runner movies and TV’s Teen Wolf, he’s taking on the lead in American Assassin, which may end up becoming a franchise.

The first image from the movie has now been released, featuring OBrien as Mitch Rapp.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Two decades after the Cold War, Islamic terrorism is on the rise, and CIA Operations Director Thomas Stansfield forms a new group of clandestine operatives—men who do not exist—to meet this burgeoning threat abroad before it reaches America’s shores. Stansfield’s protégée, Irene Kennedy, finds the ideal candidate in the wake of the Pan Am Lockerbie terrorist attack. Among the thousands grieving the victims is Mitch Rapp, a gifted college athlete, who wants only one thing: retribution. Six months of intense training prepares him to devastate the enemy with brutal efficiency, leaving a trail of bodies from Istanbul and across Europe, to Beirut. But there, the American assassin will need every ounce of skill and cunning to survive the war-ravaged city and its deadly terrorist factions.’

Michael Keaton, Taylor Kitsch, and Sanaa Lathan also star, with Michael Cuestra directing. The film, based on Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp novels, will be in cinemas next year.

Johnny Depp To Star In Biggie & Tupac Murder Investigation Movie Labyrinth

7th September 2016 By Tim Isaac

johnny-deppFor the past few months Johnny Depp has been making headlines, but not for his movies, but now that his divorce from Amber Heard is dying down (for now at least), he’s hoping he can put accusations of assault and violent behaviour behind him. Whether they will go away is yet to be seen.

It’s just been announced, via THR, that he’s set to star in a movie about the police detective who investigated the murders of The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. He will be Russell Poole, ‘a decorated detective who spent months investigating the murder of B.I.G., real name Christopher Wallace, eventually coming to believe that a group of “gangta cops in his own force were not only involved but were also tied to Death Row Records and the Bloods street gang.” The result was confrontations with the LAPD police chief and culminated with Poole going into early retirement in protest.’

Brad Furman is set to direct, based on a script by Christian Contreras. It’s not clear when it will shoot.
