For the past few months Johnny Depp has been making headlines, but not for his movies, but now that his divorce from Amber Heard is dying down (for now at least), he’s hoping he can put accusations of assault and violent behaviour behind him. Whether they will go away is yet to be seen.
It’s just been announced, via THR, that he’s set to star in a movie about the police detective who investigated the murders of The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. He will be Russell Poole, ‘a decorated detective who spent months investigating the murder of B.I.G., real name Christopher Wallace, eventually coming to believe that a group of “gangta cops in his own force were not only involved but were also tied to Death Row Records and the Bloods street gang.” The result was confrontations with the LAPD police chief and culminated with Poole going into early retirement in protest.’
Brad Furman is set to direct, based on a script by Christian Contreras. It’s not clear when it will shoot.
