With Thor out of the way, Marvel & Paramount are really gearing up again on the marketing for Captain America: The First Avenger, and as a result we’ve got a brand new trailer. Once again there’s a lot of Steve Rogers when he was a 90-pound weakling, probably just to show off the special effects used to de-muscle and shrink the usually buff Chris Evans. However there’s also more footage of Evans once he’s been transformed into a super soldier, getting into his star-spangled costume and going into battle! The World War II superhero tale looks a lot of fun, so click below to see the trailer, and then get ready for the film’s release on July 29th. Oh, and if you were wondering, the image above is a brand new, yet slightly retro, poster for the movie, that’s just been released.
The Guard Trailer – Don Cheadle’s FBI agent deals with small town Irish life
Don Cheadle gets more than he bargained for in The Guard, when he comes up against Brendan Gleeson’s Sergeant Gerry Boyle, a small-town Irish cop with a confrontational personality, a subversive sense of humour, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international cocaine-smuggling ring that has brought straight-laced FBI agent Wendell Everett (Cheadle) to his door. The movie is due out on August 19th, but take a look below for see the amusing trailer.
Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes UK Trailer – Draco Malfoy should be nicer to smart monkeys!
Apes are going to take over the world and it looks like it’s all going to be Draco Malfoy’s fault! In the great new UK trailer for Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, there’s loads more plot info than we’ve had before, with James Franco working on an experiment that has the side-effect of making apes super-intelligent. He raises a chimp called Caesar at his home, but eventually the animal has to go into captivity – which is where he meets Draco (or actor Tom Felton, as least), who isn’t exactly very nice. Not long after that, all hell breaks loose and it a war between the humans and our closest simian cousins. The movie is out August 12th.
Real Steel Japanese Trailer – More robot fighting in a cool new trailer
Real Steel sure looks like it’ll be a lot of fun, and our best look at it yet comes in the form of a Japanese trailer, which has lots more footage of fighting robots, as well as a better idea of the plot. Real Steel is set in the near-future, where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech. Hugh Jackman plays Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. He reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback. The movie is due out October 7th. A Dangerous Method Trailer – First look at David Cronenberg’s Freud and Jung movie
Keira Knightley is mental! Well, she is in the trailer for A Dangeous Method, David Cronenberg’s fictionalised take on the true story of Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender), who gets seduced by the challenge of an impossible case and takes on the unbalanced yet beautiful Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley) as his patient. Jung’s weapon is the method of his master, the renowned Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortenson). Both men fall under Sabina’s spell. And as we can see from this trailer, she’s a tad unhinged, at first at least, and rather enjoys being hit. Click below to take a look at what could be a very good movie. It should hit UK cinemas later this year or early next year.
Footloose Trailer – Dancing gets banned again in the 21st Century
The UK trailer for Footloose got its premiere over at Sky Movies last week, but we’ve now embedded it below, as well as giving you the first US poster for the movie above. As you’ve probably realised, it’s a remake of 1980s movies that starred Kevin Bacon and Randy Quaid. The Quaids are still involved but this time it’s Randy’s brother Dennis, who’s playing the John Lithgow role of an uptight minister who wants to ban dancing and loud music in a small town. The ban comes into effect after a fatal car accident (where for some reason, they decided dancing was the cause). Newcomer Kenny Wormald is channelling Kevin Bacon as the city kid who rides into town and rebels against the no dancing and music rules, while Julianne Hough is the troubled duaghter of Quaid’s character. It seemed odd in the 80s that a town would ban dancing and that the kids would then start doing illegal jives, and it’s even moreso in 2011, but hey, the first one was fun, so maybe this will be too. Click below to take a look. The movie is currently scheduled to open October 14th.
