The UK trailer for Footloose got its premiere over at Sky Movies last week, but we’ve now embedded it below, as well as giving you the first US poster for the movie above. As you’ve probably realised, it’s a remake of 1980s movies that starred Kevin Bacon and Randy Quaid. The Quaids are still involved but this time it’s Randy’s brother Dennis, who’s playing the John Lithgow role of an uptight minister who wants to ban dancing and loud music in a small town. The ban comes into effect after a fatal car accident (where for some reason, they decided dancing was the cause). Newcomer Kenny Wormald is channelling Kevin Bacon as the city kid who rides into town and rebels against the no dancing and music rules, while Julianne Hough is the troubled duaghter of Quaid’s character. It seemed odd in the 80s that a town would ban dancing and that the kids would then start doing illegal jives, and it’s even moreso in 2011, but hey, the first one was fun, so maybe this will be too.
