New Drive Trailer – Fresh look at the acclaimed Ryan Gosling drama

Coriolanus International Trailer – Take a look at Ralph Fiennes’ modern take on Shakespeare

11th August 2011 By Tim Isaac

Ralph Fiennes’ directorial debut, Coriolanus, has been kind of intriguing from the day it was announced. The film retains Shakespeare’s language and story – which is all about intrigue and war in Ancient Rome – but gives it a very modern look, so that rather than togas and swords, it’s flak jackets and automatic rifles. The movie recieved a warm reception at the Berlin Film Festival and will also screen at TIFF in September, before its UK cinema release on January 20th, 2012. In the film Coriolanus (Ralph Fiennes) is a revered and feared Roman General who is at odds with the city of Rome and his fellow citizens. Pushed by his controlling and ambitious mother Volumnia (Vanessa Redgrave) to seek the exalted and powerful position of Consul, he is loath to ingratiate himself with the masses whose votes he needs in order to secure the office. When the public refuses to support him, Coriolanus’s anger prompts a riot that culminates in his expulsion from Rome. The banished hero then allies himself with his sworn enemy Tullus Aufidius (Gerard Butler) to take his revenge on the city. With recent events round the UK, the movie looks more prescient than ever, showing that very old tales can have as much resonance today as they did when they were first written. A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas Trailer – Plus first pic from the festive comedy

11th August 2011 By Tim Isaac

When Kal Penn went off to work with Obama, it looked like it was the end of Harold & Kumar’s stoner adventures. However Penn has now left the White House and is ready to get back to silly comedy. The first trailer and pic fromfor A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas has now arrived, which you can see above and below. The movie picks up six years after the duo’s last adventure. After years of growing apart, Harold Lee (John Cho) and Kumar Patel (Kal Penn) have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations. But when a mysterious package mistakenly arrives at Kumar’s door on Christmas Eve, his attempt to redirect it to Harold’s house ends with the ‘high grade’ contents – and Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree – going up in smoke. With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree almost blows Christmas Eve sky high. And as you can see, Neil Patrick Harris is back too! It should be in cinemas later this year.

We Need To Talk About Kevin International Trailer – First look at the acclaimed drama starring Tilda Swinton

10th August 2011 By Tim Isaac

After an exceptionally good reception to screenings at Cannes, many had favoured We Need To Talk About Kevin for the Palm d’Or, but Lynne Ramsay’s film was eventually beaten out by The Tree Of Life. The adaptation of Liones Shriver’s bestselling book follows Eve (Tilda Swinton), who is stunned and horrified when her 15-year-old Kevin commits a massacre at his high school and goes to jail. Eve is desperate to understand how this could have happened, looking back at his upbringing and wondering whether it has anything to do with events from Kevin’s childhood or her relationship with her estranged husband, Franklin (John C. Reilly), who is loving but short-sighted in trying to always view his family in an idealistic way. Now the first teaser trailer for the movie have arrived, which is in English but with French subtitles. It suggests a tense and intriguing movie that’ll be worth seeking out when it arrives in cinemas on October 21st.

Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy Teaser Trailer – Are we going to get another Trainspotting?

8th August 2011 By Tim Isaac

It seems to be Irvine Welsh day, as earlier we reported on plans to turn his novel Filth into a movie starring James McAvoy, Alan Cumming and Jamie Bell, and now we’ve got the teaser trailer for Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy, based on another of his books. Rarely has a film seemed so much like it wants to be another movie – with the trailer and poster both screaming that this will be another Trainspotting. It means it’s difficult to get a genuine feel for the movie, which stars Kristin Kreuk (Smallville), Adam Sinclair (The Day Of The Triffids) and Billy Boyd (Lord Of The Rings). The movie is mainly based on the story ‘The Undefeated’ from Ecstasy (the book contains three novellas), about two recreational drug users on the rave scene. Click below for the teaser. It should be in cinemas later this year.
