Burning Man Trailer – Matthew Goode decides to follow his own rules in life and love

15th September 2011 By Tim Isaac

It’s Devon day in the world of trailers. We just posted the trailer for We Bought A Zoo, based on the true story of the rehabilitation of a Devonshire zoo, and now we’ve got a promo for a film starring Exeter born Matthew Goode, of Watchmen and Brideshead Revisited fame. However, if you watch the trailer, it’s a bit difficult to tell what the movie is all about. It looks pretty stylish and Goode’s character seems slightly on the edge, but other than that it’s a bit of a mystery. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Burning Man is the reckless, sexy, funny, moving and ultimately life-affirming story of Tom, a British chef in a Bondi restaurant, who seems to have decided there are no longer any rules he needs to obey. Whatever Tom is up to, his actions seem to be tolerated by those around him. As Tom descends into darkness, fragments of a different story begin to emerge. All the women in his world are trying in their own, very different ways to help put him back together.’ Click below to watch a trailer that could be for that synopsis or just about any other plot you can think of. No UK release is currently set.

Haywire UK Trailer – Fresh look at Steven Soderbergh’s action thriller

12th September 2011 By Tim Isaac

The lead role may have been taken by little known MMA fighter Gina Carano, who’s making her film debut in the movie, but Steven Soderbergh has certainly filled out the cast of Haywire with a lot of star names, including Michael Douglas, Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton. Just after Soderbergh’s Contagion launched in US cinemas, the UK trailer for Haywire has emerged and you can watch it below. Mallory Kane (Carano) is a highly trained operative who works for a government security contractor in the dirtiest, most dangerous corners of the world. After successfully freeing a Chinese journalist held hostage, she is double crossed and left for dead by someone close to her in her own agency. Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive. The film is out January 2012.

The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) Teaser Trailer – The film’s been banned, but take a look at the promo anyway

8th September 2011 By Tim Isaac

If the BBFC hadn’t banned it, The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) would have been released by now, with a few people saying it was digusting, but most of the country just completely ignoring it. However getting rejected for a certificate has raised interest in the film, not just in the UK but around the world. Indeed the Aussie promo, which is right at the bottom of this post, doesn’t even show any footage from the movie, and just concentrates on how sick and perverted it is, and how’s it’ll screw up anyone who watches it. However the other teaser below (from the US), does have some footage from the film, although inevitably it’s some of the milder sequences. The film follows a man who becomes obsessed with the first film and decides to make a human centipede (people attached to each other in a line, mouth to anus) of his own. It was banned due to the extreme sexual violence it depicts. So while you can’t legally watch the film, you can take a look at the teasers.

3 Trailer – First look at the lastest from the director of The International and Run Lola Run

5th September 2011 By Tim Isaac

It’s a bit difficult to know what to make of 3 from this trailer, as it follows the rather annoying trend for international features of not featuring any dialogue, seemingly in an attempt to hide the fact that it’s not in English (as if people might turn up at a cinema anyway without realising they may have to read subtitles). It also seems to both want to acknowledge and yet underplay that the film may have some experimental ideas. However on the surface it’s an exploration of modern relationships from Tom Twyker, the director of The International, Run Lola Run and the upcoming Cloud Atlas. The film is a sexy romantic drama with a nod to classic Hollywood’s screwball comedies. Hanna and Simon, a couple in their early 40, live together in Berlin. With their 20th anniversary looming, they both become restless despite being truly and deeply in love. Unbeknownst to one another, they become acquainted with Adam, a younger man, and fall in love with him, which unsuprisingly has all sorts of repurcussions.
