It’s a bit difficult to know what to make of 3 from this trailer, as it follows the rather annoying trend for international features of not featuring any dialogue, seemingly in an attempt to hide the fact that it’s not in English (as if people might turn up at a cinema anyway without realising they may have to read subtitles). It also seems to both want to acknowledge and yet underplay that the film may have some experimental ideas. However on the surface it’s an exploration of modern relationships from Tom Twyker, the director of The International, Run Lola Run and the upcoming Cloud Atlas. The film is a sexy romantic drama with a nod to classic Hollywood’s screwball comedies. Hanna and Simon, a couple in their early 40, live together in Berlin. With their 20th anniversary looming, they both become restless despite being truly and deeply in love. Unbeknownst to one another, they become acquainted with Adam, a younger man, and fall in love with him, which unsuprisingly has all sorts of repurcussions.
