First Look At Jurassic World 2 Sees A Young Girl Confronting The Dinosaurs

8th March 2017 By Tim Isaac

While it was clear before Jurassic World was released, that plenty of people were keen for another Jurassic Park movie, but few people expected it to be so successful it would gross $1.6 billion, and become the third highest grossing movie ever worldwide (although it’s since been overtaken by The Force Awakens). It also ensured that another movie would be made, and now shooting on Jurassic World 2 is underway.

To prove it, director Juan Antonio Bayona has tweeted the first picture from the movie, which features a young girl staring down a bunch if dinosaur skeletons. It’s not known who the girl is, but some have speculated it’s a character called Lucy, due to a casting call that was put out.

Indeed, not many details have been released about the movie, although it appears the movie might deal with other dinosaur hybrids that have been developed, with the hope of weaponising the creatures, as well as those who want to liberate the dinos. The film will be in cinemas in June 2018. [Read more…]

Jason Momoa Up For Just Cause Film Adaptation, With Brad Petyon Directing

8th March 2017 By Tim Isaac

Video game to movie adaptations may not have a great reputation, but Hollywood can’t give up on the idea that their might be a lot of money to be made from them. One of the latest that’s in the work, is a movie version of Just Cause.

Deadline reports that Jason Momoa is set to star in the film, with Brad Peyton directing. Game Of Thrones star Momoa has been on on the verge of breaking massively for quite a while, and the makers of Just Cause will be hoping that the fact he is soon to be seen as Aquaman will make him an even bigger name.

Peyton meanwhile is coming off two movie that made far more money that most people realise, Journey 2 and San Andreas. Next up he’s helming another videogame inspired film, Rampage, which will reunite him with Dwayne Johnson. The movie will come before Just Cause.

The Just Cause movie, ‘like the game, follows Rico Rodriguez (Momoa) who is an operative for an organization known as the Agency. The plot of the movie is under wraps but it is expected to deal in some way with Rico’s crisis of conscience while on a mission.’

Eva Green May Star In Tim Burton’s Live-Action Dumbo Movie

8th March 2017 By Tim Isaac

One of the more intriguing of Disney’s planned live-action adaptations is Dumbo, partly due to having Tim Burton in the directing chair, and partly due to the fact in the original animated movie, the main character couldn’t talk, even though various other animals could. It’ll be interesting to see how they handle it on the big-screen, and exactly what the expanded role for the human characters will be.

One of those humans may be Eva Green, as Variety reports that she’s in early talks for the movie. She would play the female lead, although it’s not known exactly how she’ll fit into the story. Disney will be hoping they can close this deal, as they’ve been having trouble filling out the male roles, as deals with both Will Smith and Chris Pine have fallen through in the past couple of months (Tom Hanks was also rumoured, but he doesn’t seem involved anymore either).

The plot of the film will revolve both around the baby elephant with enormous ears, as well as some children that befriend him. Disney is hoping to shoot the movie this year, with a late 2018 or 2019 release expected.

Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep & Steven Spielberg Teaming For Pentagon Papers Movie, The Post

7th March 2017 By Tim Isaac

She’s one of the most storied actresses in film history, but Meryl Streep has never appeared on-screen in a Steven Spielberg movie. They have worked together, as Streep voiced one of the mechas in Spielberg’s AI, but it’s only now that she’s planning to get in front of the director’s lens, for the Post.

The other star lined up is someone Spielberg has worked with numerous times before, Tom Hanks, who’s also signed up to take on this look at the Pentagon Papers scandal, according to Deadline.

The movie will be based on Liz Hannah’s spec script, which recently landed one of the top spots on the Black List of the best unproduced screenplays. It’s ‘a drama about the Washington Post’s role in exposing the Pentagon Papers in 1971, and how the Post’s editor Ben Bradlee and publisher Kay Graham challenged the federal government over their right to publish them.’

The Pentagon Papers was a Top Secret report commissioned to look at what was happening in the Vietnam War. It spoke of a dramatic escalation that was being hidden from the public, and much of its information seemed to support the growing idea that the war was unwinnable. After it was leaked to the Washington Post, the newspaper ended up in a legal battle with the government over whether they could publish more of what they’d learned from the report. At a time when the current US President is at war with the media and angry about leaks, this look at freedom of the press, the First Amendment and government lies could end up being extremely timely.

Margot Robbie Will Be Maid Marian In An Alternate Take On Robin Hood

7th March 2017 By Tim Isaac

If you grew up in the UK in the 1980s you’ll probably remember Maid Marian & Her Merry Men, where it was Marian who was the brainy hero robbing from the rich to give to the poor, while Robin Hood was a bit of a dim and fey fellow, even if he ending up getting all the credit. It now seems Hollywood is keen on a similar idea, as THR reports that Sony has purchased Pete Barry’s spec script, Marian, which already has Margot Robbie attached to star.

It won’t be quite the same as Maid Marian & Her Merry Men though, as ‘Marian unfolds after the death of Robin Hood, the love of her life. The titular maiden then picks up his cause to lead her people into a pivotal war that will not only decide the fate of the kingdom, but also see her don the mantle of the man she loved. In the process, she rises as a legend herself.’

The film is one of several Robin Hood inspired tales Hollywood is making at the moment, with an origin story starring Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx and Jamie Dornan due for release in early 2018, and visual effects supervisor Hasraf ‘HaZ’ Dulull due to shoot a futuristic, sci-fi version later this year.

Deadpool 2 Teaser Trailer – The Merc With A Mouth is back to tease us before his next adventure

4th March 2017 By Tim Isaac

Although Logan and Deadpool seem like pretty much the polar opposites of the X-Men universe. Alongside Wolverine adventure Logan in cinemas this weekend comes a specially filmed teaser for Deadpool 2, letting us know the character will be back soon.

Now that teaser has arrived on the web, showing us that while directing duties may be moving from Tim Miller to John Wick co-director David Leitch, the tone and sardonic humour will be very much intact. The nearly four-minute teaser is actually more like a short film, with Deadpool showing that sometimes the superhero cliches – in this case changing from street clothes into your hero outfit – are easier said than done. And yes, there’s plenty of fourth wall breaking, not least that Logan is playing in a cinema in the background.

Take a look at the new vid below, which even finds time for a Stan Lee cameo. Deadpool 2 is due out March 2018. [Read more…]
