First Look At Stranger Things’ David Harbour As A Rebooted Hellboy

16th September 2017 By Tim Isaac

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Quite a few people were annoyed a couple of months ago when it was revealed that any faint hopes that Ron Perlman and Guillermo Del Toro would complete their Hellboy trilogy had been extinguished, as the character was getting a film reboot with Stranger Things star David Harbour as the good-guy demon.

Now the first look at the actor in character has been released, showing that while there are definitely differences, they haven’t strayed too far from the look Perlman and Del Toro went with.

There will be other differences too, as Neill Marshall is directed, and we’ve been promised that this time around the movie will be more violent and ‘R’ rated. Harbour himself released the image on Twitter, along with the message, ‘Please allow to introduce myself, I’m a man of wealth and taste…’.

Alongside Harbour, Ian McShane will play Hellboy’s adoptive human father, Trevor Bruttenholm, while Milla Jovovich will be the movie’s main villain, the Blood Queen. No release date has been set as yet, but expect it sometime in 2018, or early 2019. [Read more…]

Milla Jovovich Will Be Getting Villainous In The Hellboy Reboot

8th August 2017 By Tim Isaac

After battling with the advanced AI the White Queen in the Resident Evil movies, Milla Jovovich will be becoming a Blood Queen for the planned reboot of Hellboy. As that name suggests, she will be the villain of the piece.

She joins David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy, with Ian McShane recently signing on as the big, red demon’s protector and mentor, Professor Broom, and Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) in talks to direct. It also looks like the film may be called Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, as that was included in Deadline’s first version of their story about Jovovich’s casting, although it was hastily removed.

The movie should start shooting in September, so expect to see it sometime in 2018 or early 2019. Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) is set to direct from a script by Aron Coleite, Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.

Ian McShane Will Be Professor Bloom In The Hellboy Reboot

5th August 2017 By Tim Isaac

A couple of months ago it was announced that with the idea of a third Guillermo Del Toro directed Hellboy movie well and truly dead, a reboot is in the works. David Harbour (Stranger Things) is already attached to the the central role, and Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) in talks to direct.

Now the movie has found its Professor Bloom, the man who in the original comics found the infant Hellboy when he’d been summoned to Earth by the Nazis during the Second World War, and then taken him to America and raised him. The man who’s stepped in the role is Ian McShane, according to THR.

Some has expressed surprise at McShane’s casting, as Broom is usually seen as a rather small, bookish man, as opposed to the British actor’s more dangerous, muscular persona. The movie should start shooting in September, so expect to see it sometime in 2918 or early 2019.
