New Robin Hood Trailer – Taron Egerton takes on the legendary outlaw

2nd October 2018 By Tim Isaac

Hollywood can’t resist Robin Hood, even if there have been two films about him that have failed for every one that’s succeeded. Now a new one is coming, with Taron Egerton in the title role (you could be forgiven for having never heard about it though, or just having forgotten it existed).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.’

The movie is in UK cinemas on November 21st. Take a look at the new trailer for the movie below, plus a poster for the film. [Read more…]

First Look At Taron Egerton & Jamie Foxx In Robin Hood

11th December 2017 By Tim Isaac

There have been successful Robin Hood movies and failed Robin Hood movies, but he’s a character that Hollywood never gives up on. A new take is on it’s way, which focuses on a slightly younger Robin than we’re used to (it was previously titled ‘Robin Hood: Origins’ but is now just plain Robin Hood), in the form of Taron Egerton.

The first images from the film have been released, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Robin Hood (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.’

The cast of the film also includes Jamie Dornan as Will Scarlet, Eve Hewson as Maid Marian, Tim Minchin as Friar Tuck and Ben Mendelsohn as the Sheriff of Nottingham. The movie is due in cinemas September 2018. [Read more…]

Jamie Dornan May Be Will Scarlett In Robin Hood: Origins

20th September 2016 By Tim Isaac

jamie-dornan-slideIt looks like Jamie Dornan is heading from the Red Room to Sherwood Forest, as Variety reports that he’s in talks to play Will Scarlet in Robin Hood: Origins. If he does sign on, he’ll join Taron Egerton in the title role, Eve Hewson as Maid Marian, and Jamie Foxx as Little John.

As the title suggests the movie will be about the legendary character’s early days. However it’s not going back too far, as it’s previously been reported that here Robin ‘returns from fighting in The Crusades and finds that Sherwood Forest is rife with corruption and evil. He forms a band of outlaws and they take matters into their own hands.’

Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) is set to direct from a script by Joby Harold. It’s expected the film will be released next year, with hopes it can become a franchise.

Jamie Foxx Will Be Robin Hood: Origins’ Little John

12th January 2016 By Tim Isaac

jamie-foxxSeveral Robin Hood movies have been in the works over the past few years, but one is now working its way towards the big screen, with the news, via THR, that Jamie Foxx has been cast as Little John in Robin Hood: Origins. Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) is set to direct from a script by Joby Harold.

Taron Egerton is already onboard to play the title role.

It sounds like he might have brought back Little John with him, as Deadline suggests the character ‘starts out distrustful of Robin Hood (they fought on opposite sides), and then warms to the young hero in the gritty revisionist take on the legend.’ The film is expected to shoot this summer for release in 2017.
