18th July 2016 By Tim Isaac

girl-on-the-train-pic1-slidePaula Hawkins’ novel, The Girl On The Train, turned into a bit of a publishing phenomenon, which inevitably meant a movie adaptation would follow. Now the first trailer for the movie has arrived, which you can take a look at below.

Jake Gyllenhaal Is In For Life With Ryan Reynolds & Rebecca Ferguson

13th March 2016 By Tim Isaac

Jake-GyllenhaalJake Gyllenhaal has gotten Life – or at least he’s signed on to star in a movie of that name. He joins the previously cast Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson in the sci-fi tale (some reports have suggested Gyllenhaal is replacing Reynolds, but Variety says both actors will be involved).

The film follows ‘the crew of the International Space Station, who, after retrieving a sample from Mars, discover that it displays signs of life, and proves to be more intelligent than expected.’ There’s no info on whether the tone is more action or horror, or indeed possible comedy, considering it’s written by Deadpool’s Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) is set to direct the movie. It’s expected to shoot this year, probably after Gyllenhaal is finished with Stronger, about the Boston Marathon bombings.

Florence Foster Jenkins Trailer – Meryl Streep & Hugh Grant tell the true tale of a legendarily terrible singer

10th March 2016 By Tim Isaac

florence-foster-jenkins-poster-slideSynopsis: ‘The comedy drama directed by Stephen Frears (Philomena, The Queen) tells the inspirational true story of the eponymous New York heiress who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great singer. The film celebrates the human spirit, the power of music and the passion of amateurs everywhere.

‘The voice Florence (Streep) heard in her head was divine, but to the rest of the world it was hilariously awful. At private recitals, her devoted husband and manager, St Clair Bayfield (Grant), managed to protect Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give her first public concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall, St Clair realised he had perhaps bitten off more than he could chew.

‘The film’s supporting cast members include Simon Helberg (The Big Bang Theory) as Florence’s long suffering piano accompanist, Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Nina Arianda (Midnight in Paris).’

The film hits UK cinemas in May, but before that you can take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]
