The House with a Clock in Its Walls Trailer – Cate Blanchett & Jack Black star in the creepy family film

29th March 2018 By Tim Isaac

Synopsis: ‘In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls, from Amblin Entertainment. The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town’s sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.

‘Based on the beloved children’s classic written by John Bellairs and illustrated by Edward Gorey, The House with a Clock in Its Walls is directed by master frightener Eli Roth and written by Eric Kripke (creator of TV’s Supernatural). Co-starring Kyle MacLachlan, Colleen Camp, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Vanessa Anne Williams and Sunny Suljic, it is produced by Mythology Entertainment’s Brad Fischer (Shutter Island) and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), as well as Kripke.

‘The House With A Clock In Its Walls will be coming to cinemas on 28th September 2018.'[bgpsadvert] [Read more…]

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Trailer – Dwayne Johnson is a teen boy & Jack Black gets gender-swapped

20th September 2017 By Tim Isaac

In the last few months there’s been a lot of talk about how Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle will respect the original and follow the spirit of the Robin Williams movie and his character. However, the trailers have suggested we’ll be dealing with a very different kind of film.

This time around a bunch of teens get morphed into a Jumanji videogame, which involves a nerdy teen boy becoming Dwayne Johnson, and a hot girl suddenly finding herself as Jack Black. And as the new trailer shows, the girl inside Jack has the hots for Johnson.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the brand new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, into the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji –Jumanji plays you. They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…’

The movie is due out in December. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

Cate Blanchett May Join Jack Black In Eli Roth’s House With A Clock In Its Walls

16th August 2017 By Tim Isaac

Cate Blanchett and Jack Black aren’t the first people you’d think of for a movie directed by Eli Roth, the man behind Hostel, Cabin Fever and The Green Inferno. However, Black is already onboard his upcoming The House With A Clock In Its Walls, while Variety report Blanchett is not in talks to join him.

The film is an adaptation of John Bellairs 1973 novel, which was illustrated by Edward Gorey. It ‘tells the tale of a recently orphaned 10-year-old boy who discovers a world of hidden passageways, magic, and danger in his uncle’s old house.’

As that synopsis suggests, this is going to be different in tone the Roth’s often dark, gory and very grown-up movies. The House With A Clock In Its Walls is still in the horror wheelhouse, but Bellair’s book was written for younger readers, so it’s likely the movie will follow suit.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Trailer – Dwayne Johnson is a teen boy & Jack Black gets gender-swapped

First Pic From Jumanji Reboot Arrives With Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black & Karen Gillan

20th September 2016 By Tim Isaac

jumanji-remake-pic1While some still aren’t sure whether Jumanji needs a reboot, it’s getting one and it’s now is production. Kevin Hart has posted the first image from the movie, which features the comedian alongside co-stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black & Karen Gillan.

It’s not known exactly how this reboot will handle the story, but it will still be based around the basic concept of a board game where what happens in the game also happens in real life, which causes havoc when the jungle starts to erupt into reality. Those involved have been keen to say that the movie will be respectful to the Robin Williams film, and that it is likely to take place in the same universe, rather than being a complete restart.

The new picture suggests the film may spend much of its time in the Jumanji jungle world, with the characters getting stuck inside the game and needing to get out. It’ll be in cinemas next year.

Jack Black In Talks To Join Kevin Hart & Dwayne Johnson In The Jumanji Reboot

12th May 2016 By Tim Isaac

jack-blackA few weeks ago it was revealed that Kevin Hart & Dwayne Johnson were in talks to start in the planned reboot of Jumanji. Now it turns out Hart isn’t the only funnyman in the mix, as TheWrap reports that Jack Black is up to play the third of the film’s five main roles.

It’s not known exactly how this reboot will handle the story, but it will still be based around the basic concept of a board game where what happens in the game also happens in real life, which causes havoc when the jungle starts to erupt into reality. However, with Johnson, Hart and Black, it may be a little more grown-up in tone than the 1995 movie.

Johnson has also been keen to point out that they intend to be respectful towards the earlier film and honour the memory of the original. Some have taken his comments to suggest this will be more sequel than complete reboot, but that’s currently unconfirmed. Jake Kasdan will direct.
