New Zoolander 2 Trailer – Ben Stiller must save the world from a celebrity killer

3rd February 2016 By Tim Isaac

zoolander-2-poster1-slideIn a week and a half we’ll finally get to see the long awaited Zoolander 2, which has been in the works for years but is only just now making it to cinemas. Will it have been worth the wait? A new trailer is here which hopes to convince us it is.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson back in male model mode, with the duo beginning to realise that they aren’t as young as they once were – something that is pretty much fatal in their profession – and also that the world of fashion has changed from the one they once knew. That includes Benedict Cumberbatch as a model who goes beyond androgynous.

There is a problem though, someone is out killing celebrities including Demi Lovato, Usher, Justin Bieber, Lenny Kravitz, and Miley Cyrus, all of whom have died with one of Derek Zoolander’s signature looks on their face.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and expect the movie in cinemas on February 12th, 2016. [Read more…]

First Look At Benedict Cumberbatch In Marvel’s Doctor Strange

28th December 2015 By Tim Isaac

Doctor-Strange-ew2-slideMarvel’s stable of movie superheroes is due to grow over the next few years, and one of the first new characters to be introduced will be Doctor Strange, as played by Benedict Cumberbatch. EW has gotten hold of the first pics of Benedict in the role, where he’s certainly looking rather grandiose and dapper. There are also a couple of bits of concept art from the film.

Cumberbatch will play Stephen Vincent Strange, a former neurosurgeon who becomes the next Sorcerer Supreme and primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Marvel Comics artist Steve Ditko created the character in 1963. Tilda Swinton will play Strange’s mentor, the Ancient One, while Chiwetel Ejiofor will appear as Baron Mordo, who also studies magic under the Ancient One in the comic books, before becoming Doctor Strange’s nemesis. Mads Mikelsen is also onboard to play an as yet unnamed villain, who EW says, is ‘a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect… he believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base and that the world may be better off if we were to allow some of these other things through.’

Scott Derrickson is directing the movie. It’ll be in cinemas November 2016. [Read more…]

Star Trek Beyond Trailer – Chris Pine & co. return and are finally boldy going to strange new world

14th December 2015 By Tim Isaac

star-trek-beyond-trailer-slide1Although the first two rebooted Star Trek movies were a lot of fun, one thing they lacked was boldly going to explore strange new worlds and new civilisations. However, with Star Trek Beyond it’s been suggest the Enterprise will finally be embarking on their five year mission.

However, while JJ Abrams may not be directing (he is producing though), it appears they’re sticking with the secrecy that surrounded the earlier movie but telling us nothing about the plot and producing a first trailer which is pretty cool, but doesn’t tell us much about the plot.

You won’t be surprised to hear though that aliens are involved, one of them played by Idris Elba.

It also appears that new director Justin Lin is bringing a nicely retro feel, with the whole thing being oddly reminiscent of the 60s TV show, which makes sense if its taking place at the same time, even if it’s an alternate timeline. Of course it’s all a lot more high tech, but it’s still got a nice throwback feeling. You can take a look at the trailer below, and look forward to the film arriving in cinemas next July. Benedict Cumberbatch To Star In World War II Movie The War Magician

8th December 2015 By Tim Isaac

Benedict-CumberbatchBenedict Cumberbatch is currently on set at the start of filming Marvel’s Doctor Strange, but he’s also looking towards the future and a different kind of magic, as he is attached to star in The War Magician, according to THR.

The film will see him take on another relatively unsung hero of World War II (after Alan Turing in The Imitation Game) who helped win the conflict in ways that didn’t involve conventional weapons, playing Jasper Maskelyne, who ‘put together a rag‐tag “dirty dozen” of accomplices dubbed “The Magic Gang” who used illusion tricks to hide strategic targets such as the Alexandria harbor, the Suez Canal, in the process concealing 150,000 men with 1,000 guns and tanks…

‘The illusions helped turn the tide of the war against General Rommel and the Germans in North Africa, leading up to the Battle of El Alamein. The announcement states that Maskelyne’s techniques were so effective that Adolf Hitler added him to his personal blacklist alongside men like Douglas MacArthur and British Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery who, if captured alive, were to receive “special” treatment by the Nazis.’

Book Of Eli’s Garry Whitta is writing the screenplay, although the project hasn’t found a director as yet. It’s not clear when we might get to see the movie, although it appears to be some way off.
