Assassination Nation Trailer – Will a group of girls make it through the night in the Sundance hit?

18th July 2018 By Tim Isaac

Assassination Nation made a bit of a splash at Sundance, with good reviews and a huge distribution deal. Now we get a taste of the movie with a new trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘High school senior Lily and her group of friends live in a haze of texts, posts, selfies and chats just like the rest of the world. So, when an anonymous hacker starts posting details from the private lives of everyone in their small town, the result is absolute madness leaving Lily and her friends questioning whether they’ll live through the night.’

The movie stars Odessa Young, Hari Nef, Suki Waterhouse, Abra, Bella Thorne, Maude Apatow, Bill Skarsgard and Joel Mc Hale. It’ll be in cinemas in November. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Bohemian Rhapsody Trailer – Rami Malek takes on the legendary Freddie Mercury

17th July 2018 By Tim Isaac

The Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody was in the works for years, working its ways through numerous directors and potential stars before it finally settled on Bryan Singer behind the camera and Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury. However, drama hit when Singer was sensationally fired after problems on set and then taking an unscheduled break. He was replaced by Dexter Fletcher.

Now a new trailer for the movie has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet.

‘The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury’s lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. In the process, cementing the legacy of a band that were always more like family, and who continue to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.’

Alongside Rami Malek, the film stars Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Aidan Gillen, Allen Leech, Tom Hollander and Mike Myers. Take a look at the trailer below. The film will be in cinemas on October 24th. [Read more…]

The First Poster For Aquaman Has Arrived

17th July 2018 By Tim Isaac

Justice League may not have been the greatest introduction to Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, but hopefully when his solo film arrives, it’ll be more Wonder Woman than Batman vs Superman. The first poster for the movie has now arrived, which you can take a look at below.

We’ve been promised the first trailer this weekend, to coincide with the film’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con. It’ll be interested to see what it looks like (hopefully less cartoony than Justice League’s underwater world).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Directed by James Wan (“The Conjuring” films, “Furious 7”) and starring Jason Momoa in the title role, AQUAMAN also stars Amber Heard (“Justice League,” “Magic Mike XXL”) as Mera; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (“Platoon,” “Spider-Man 2”) as Vulko; Temuera Morrison (“Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones,” “Green Lantern”) as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren (“The Expendables” films) as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (upcoming “Baywatch,” Netflix’s “The Get Down”) as Black Manta; with Patrick Wilson (“The Conjuring” films, “Watchmen”) as Orm/Ocean Master; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (“The Hours,” “Lion”) as Atlanna.’

The film will arrive in cinemas in December. [Read more…]

Tomb Raider (Blu-ray Review)

15th July 2018 By Tim Isaac

Starring: Alicia Vikander, Daniel Vu, Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Kristin Scott Thomas
Directed By: Roar Uthaug
Running Time: 118 mins
BBFC Certificate: 12
UK Release Date: July 16th 2018

Our Score

Many people were surprised when it was announced there was going to be a Tomb Raider movie reboot, especially considering the Angelina Jolie movies of the early 2000s aren’t exactly well remembered. However, as with so many other videogames, there’s no intrinsic reason it couldn’t be turned into a good movie. Although for some reason, Hollywood has great difficulty turning games into serviceable film.

This time around Jolie has been replaced by Alicia Vikander, who like her predecessor stepped into Lara Croft’s shoes shortly after winning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar (Jolie for Girl Interrupted and Vikander for The Danish Girl). Her Lara is a young woman who’s fiercely intelligent and smart, but whose life shifted sideways when her adventurer father went missing, presumed dead, when she was a child. [Read more…]

First Official Look At Zachary Levi Going DC Superhero In Shazam

11th July 2018 By Tim Isaac

The first pic of Zachary Levi is keen to show that while DC has tried to build its superhero franchise with a grittier look and feel than Marvel, it’s going in a different direction with Shazam. That’s evident from the first official pic, showing Zachary Levi in a rather snazzy looking suit, having some all-american cola with a friend.

Shazam (also known as Captain Marvel, although you can see why they’d avoid that name) is the superhero alter-ego of a boy called Billy Batson. The hero has the powers of Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury. While not particularly well known today outside comic book circles, he was the biggest selling character of the 1940s.

It’s believed the first footage from the movie will be screened at San Diego Comic Con later this month. Hopefully Warner will release it publicly so we all get to see. The movie itself is due out April 2019.
