Quite a few cool new images have arrived online in the last 24 hours. They include the first official shot from Young Adult, starring Charlize Theron, a new image from The Woman In Black, another shot from Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar, plus the first posters for Safe and Machine Gun Preacher.
There’s a lot of anticipation for Young Adult, which reunites director Jason Reitman with Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody. Now the first image from the movie has been released, which you can see above. The movie stars Charlize Theron as Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasnt quite gotten over high school, either. The film’s UK release is currently set for February 10th, 2012.
We’ve had a couple shots and a teaser trailer from The Woman In Black before, and now a new one has arrived, which sees Daniel Radcliffe trying to show he’s all grown up and rather freaked out. Based on the classic ghost story, The Woman In Black tells the tale of Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe), a lawyer who is forced to leave his young son and travel to a remote village to attend to the affairs of the recently deceased owner of Eel Marsh House. Working alone in the old mansion, Kipps begins to uncover the town’s tragic and tortured secrets and his fears escalate when he discovers that local children have been dying under mysterious circumstances. When those closest to him become threatened by the vengeful woman in black, Kipps must find a way to break the cycle of terror. The film is currently set for release on February 10th, 2012.
The first images from Clint Eastwood’s Hoover biopic, J. Edgar, arrived over the weekend, and now another one has arrived, giving us our first look at Naomi Watts as FBI director J. Edgar Hoover’s longtime secretary Helen Gandy, who was instrumental in helping the man keep power and was one of the only people Hoover truly trusted. The movie is due out on January 20th, 2012.
The first poster for the Jason Statham flick Safe has arrived courtesy of IGN. The movie centres on Statham’s character, who is a former eilte agent who rescues and becomes the protector of a 12-year-old girl Chinese girl who’s been kidnapped by the Triads, and must then use a highly desired safe combination to outwit the Russian Mafia, corrupt NYC officials, and the Triads themselves. It’s due out in the UK on November 18th.
The first pic for Machine Gun Preacher made the film look a more serious than the title suggests. Now the first poster has arrived via IMDB, which seems to be trying to suggest it will indeed have dramatic, real-world themes, but will also have the action we’ve come expect from Butler – whether it will is yet to be seen. The film is a biopic of Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing biker tough guy who found God and became a crusader for hundreds of Sudanese children who’d been forced to become soldiers. It’s a bit of an Oscar-bait flick, and will arrive in the UK early January 2012. But take a look at the first poster above.
