Take Shelter has been doing the festival rounds, impressing audiences at both Sundance and Cannes, with it’s story of a man (Michael Shannon) and his deteriorating mental state. Now, with the US release approaching, a trailer has arrived, which is certainly very intriguing, with its ‘is he mad or not?’ teasing. The movie is about working-class husband and father Curtis LaForche, who questions whether his nightmares of an apocalyptic storm signal something real to come or the onset of an inherited mental illness he has feared his whole life. No UK release date has yet been set, but expect it later this year.
New Transformers: Dark On The Moon Trailer – Plus Michael Bay & James Cameron talk 3D in a new featurette
Studios have taken to releasing ‘3D’ trailers on the web, even though they’re not in 3D when you watch them on the net. The reason is, of course, because they will be 3D if you see them in cinemas, but it’s still a bit odd on the web. As with many of these 3D trailers, this one’s trying to show off the scope and depth of the movie, with plenty of new footage and robot action – plus the suggestion the Decepticons might succeed in taking over the planet this time (except, of course, they won’t – this is Hollywood, after all). Also embedded below is a new featurette which features Transformers director Michael Bay and James Cameron discussing 3D. It’s well worth a look. Transformers: Dark Of The Moon hits cinemas June 29th, two days earlier than it’s previous July 1st date.
Brand New Green Lantern Trailer – Take a look at the history of the Green Lantern corps
Although the footage we’ve seen from Green Lantern has been pretty cool, it’s all been much of a muchness, but this new trailer (which like the new Transformers promo, is a ‘3D trailer’, because that’s how it will be in cinemas), is a little different, telling us the history of the Green Lantern Corps, and it mission as a kind of intergalactic police force. It all look pretty spectacular, and while the response to the first teaser was fairly muted, this should be getting people a lot more excited. It hits UK cinemas on June 17th.
The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn International Teaser Trailer – New footage revealed from Spielberg’s flick
The other day, the US teaser trailer from Tintin brought us our first look at footage from the Spielberg directed and Peter Jackson produced take on Herge’s classic illustrated tale. Now a new international version has arrived, which features some different footage (although some of it is the same). Interestingly it keeps the trick of now revealing Tintin’s face until right at the end, as if he’s some sort of incredibly mysterious character. The motion-capture animated movie stars Jamie Bell as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure. Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Nick Frost and Cary Elwes also star. It arrives in cinemas this October 26th.
X-Men: First Class Featurette – Loads of plot details and new footage
A great, if rather short, featurette for X-Men: First Class has shown up online, which is almost like a trailer with commentary from the likes of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. There’s loads of cool footage, along with plenty of plot info about exactly how the Cuban Missile Crisis fits into the film, as well as what Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) and his army of evil mutants are up to. It certainly makes the film look pretty intriguing and a very interesting prequel to the previous X-Men film, showing us how Charles Xavier (McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr were once friends, before they became Professor X and Magneto. The movie arrives in UK cinemas June 1st.
