Puncture Trailer – Chris Evans gets drug-addled and tattooed in this courtroom drama

17th August 2011 By Tim Isaac

Puncture is going to show us a slightly different side to Chris Evans, as this trailer attests. In this based on a true story flick, he plays tattooed and drug-addicted townie lawyer Mike Weiss, who has more than his share of personal demons, but needs to straighten himself up long enough to lead a renegade safety-needle inventor to victory against a monopolising medical supply corporation. This David-and-Goliath legal drama, exposes the corruption and kickback schemes threatening the lives of millions of health care workers. No UK release date is yet set, but it’s out in the US in September, so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.

Hysteria Trailer – Maggie Gyllenhaal stars in the tale of the invention of the vibrator

17th August 2011 By Tim Isaac

Hysteria is due to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month, and now the trailer for the movie has arrived, to give us a taste of this rather unusual Victorian tale. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hugh Dancy star in this cheeky romantic comedy about the invention of the vibrator. Victorian London is brought to life in vivid colour as a young doctor (Dancy) struggles to establish himself while confronting the gutsy daughter of his boss (Gyllenhaal). Rupert Everett and Felicity Jones play supporting roles.’ What that doesn’t mention, is that it’s a fictional take on the invention of the vibrator, which was originally developed to help treat ‘female hysteria’ (believe it or not, back then many doctors manually stimulated ladies to orgasm, which was viewed as a purely medical practice to treat nervous conditions, and not sexual at all). No UK release date is yet set.

A Good Old Fashioned Orgy Red Band Trailer – Jason Sudeikis gets rude in his latest flick

16th August 2011 By Tim Isaac

With a title like A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, it shouldn’t be too much of a shock that this new comedy starring Jason Sudeikis, Tyler Labine and Leslie Bibb is a bit rude. To prove that, a new red-band trailer and a clip from the movie has arrived, which you can watch below – although they’re only suitable for over-18s. Sudeikis is Eric, a thirtysomething party animal, famous among his close circle of friends for his lavish summer theme parties at his father’s swanky Hamptons pad. But when members of the crew start settling down – and Eric’s dad announces plans to sell the beach house – Eric decides it’s time for one last bash to go out with a proverbial bang – a good old-fashioned orgy. The only obstacles to overcome are actually convincing each of his reluctant friends to join in on the bacchanal, and an inconveniently blossoming romance with the real estate agent who’s threatening to sell the house out from under him before the main event can even take place. No UK release date is yet set.

New Footloose Trailer – Dancing is getting banned all over again

15th August 2011 By Tim Isaac

After years in development, with numerous cast and director changes, the remake of Footloose is not coming and to prove it a new trailer for the movie has arrived, which you can see below. The new version of the 1980s classic sees Dennis Quaid playing the John Lithgow role of an uptight minister who wants to ban dancing and loud music in a small town. The ban comes into effect after a fatal car accident (where for some reason, they decided dancing was the cause). Newcomer Kenny Wormald is channelling Kevin Bacon as the city kid who rides into town and rebels against the no dancing and music rules, while Julianne Hough is the troubled daughter of Quaid’s character. The movie is currently scheduled to open October 14th.

Dirty Girl Trailer – Juno Temple sluts it up in the 1980s midwest

12th August 2011 By Tim Isaac

This may well be the beginning of the Juno Temple invasion, with the young British actress having 10 movies coming out in the next couple of years, from the lesbian werewolf flick Jack & Diane to a part in The Dark Knight Rises. Dirty Girl sees her as Danielle, the dirty girl of Norman High School in Norman, Oklahoma, circa 1987. When Danielle’s misbehaviour gets her banished to a remedial class, she is paired on a parenting project with Clarke (Jeremy Dozier), an innocent closet-case with no friends. Danielle is determined to get to California to find the father she’s never met, and Clarke is desperate to escape being sent to military school by his homophobic dad. Together, the mismatched misfits light out for California, and discover each other and themselves through a funny and serendipitous friendship. No UK release date is yet set, but it’s out on the US in October.

New 50-50 Trailer – Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen deal with cancer

12th August 2011 By Tim Isaac

50/50 (previously known as I’m With Cancer) has had great reactions in preview screenings, and now a new trailer has arrived, whicb tries to suggest that despite the subject matter, this will actually be funny. Inspired by Borat producer Will Reiser’s personal experiences, 50/50 is an original story about friendship, love, survival and finding humour in unlikely places. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star as best friends whose lives are changed by a cancer diagnosis. 50/50 draws its emotional core from Reiser’s own experience with cancer and reminds us that friendship and love, no matter what bizarre turns they take, are the greatest healers. Take a look below for the new trailer. The film is scheduled to hit UK cinemas on January 6th.
