11th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

We were promised the first teaser trailer for The Avengers on Tuesday, and here it is! Take a look below for Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nick Fury and just a little Hulk. It might be early days so there’s not a vast amount of special effects (although more than in a lot of first teasers), but the trailer doesn’t disappoint and helps to underline that The Avengers really is the movie event of next summer. It’s due in cinemas on May 4th 2012, but take a look at the trailer below.

Official Synopsis: ‘Marvel Studios presents “Marvel’s The Avengers” – the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. The Raven Trailer – John Cusack takes on Edgar Allan Poe and a serial killer

10th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

The Raven is potentially a very interesting movie, mixing real-life and fictional mystery together to create something new. The film stars John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe, who joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders, ensuring things like The Pit And the Pendulum become all too real. The film also feeds into the true-life mystery of when Poe went missing for a week, eventually turning up delerious on the street of Baltimore (when he had been due to go to New York), and dying a few days later, before anyone could find out what had happened. It’s due out next March, but click below for the gritty new trailer.

New Happy Feet Two Trailer – Mumble’s son wants to learn how to fly

10th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

Although the jury is still out on whether we need a second Happy Feet movie, this trailer does suggest there will be at least one thing about the movie that may be worth checking out – Brad Pitt and Matt Damon playing prawns. Goodness knows how they got them to agree to do that, but it’s an intriguing prospect. In the film Mumble’s son, Erik, is struggling to realise his talents in the Emperor Penguin world, but is excited when he thinks he found a penguin that can fly. Meanwhile, Mumble and his family and friends discover a new threat their home — one that will take everyone working together to save them. Happy Feet Two is due in UK cinemas on December 2nd.

First Goon Trailer – Seann William Scott takes up semi-pro ice hockey

10th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

While I presume this trailer is supposed to just make Goon look like it’s going to be fun, it presents ice hockey as if it’s only one step away from the gladiatorial arena on ancient Rome, where the sport is just a veneer for people revelling in the spectacle of violence. I’m not sure how the NHL will feel about that, but it makes its argument quite well. Based on a true story, Seann William Scott plays Doug Glatt, a bouncer who overcomes long odds to lead a team of under performing misfits to semi-pro hockey glory, beating the crap out of everything that stands in his way. No UK date is currently set, but we shouldn’t have to wait too long for Goon.

New Tower Heist Trailer – Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy go on the rob

7th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

Tower Heist has been in the news in the last couple of days, as Universal is trialling a new video-on-demand model with the movie, which will see it available in the home in select US markets only three weeks after its cinema release, for the princely sum on $59.99. One major American cinema chain has already said it will boycott the film because of this, but at the moment Universal is pushing ahead and have released a new trailer to try and promote the flick. Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy lead an all-star cast in a film about working stiffs who seek revenge on the Wall Street swindler who stiffed them. After the workers at a luxury Central Park condominium discover the penthouse billionaire (Alan Alda) has stolen their retirement funds, they plot the ultimate revenge – a $20 million heist to reclaim what he took from them. The Brett Ratner directed movie also stars Matthew Broderick, Tea Leoni, Casey Affleck, Gabourey Sidibe, Judd Hirsch and Michael Pena. It’ll be in UK cinemas on November 2nd.
