American Reunion Red Band Trailer – Seems Jim’s life hasn’t got any less grossout

14th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

This is less a trailer really than a scene from American Pie: Reunion which is there to prove that despite the kids now being grown up with families, they’re still getting up to plenty of grossout sexual shenanigans. It’s also keen to point out that after years of increasingly dreadful straight-to-DVD sequels, this one has all the original gang back, so we can catch up with them in their 30s. The movie is due out April 6th, but click below for this NSFW, red band trailer.

This Means War Trailer – Tom Hardy & Chris Pine turn spy and fight for Reese Witherspoon

14th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

This Means War has been around for years, with numerous actors attached. However it didn’t come together until McG signed on to direct and hired Chris Pine and Tom Hardy to star. However, whether they should have bothered is still tough to tell. Hardy and Pine play spies who both fall for Reese Witherspoon and end up fighting for her affections in a rather explosive fashion. Each tries to sabotage the other’s chances, hopefully to comedic effect. To be honest, despite the talent line-up, the jury’s still out on whether the premise is just too cringe-inducing to produce a workable film, but it’s due in cinemas next February, and you can get your first taste by clicking below.

Albert Nobbs Trailer – Glenn Close turns herself into a 19th Century Irish man

13th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

Back in the 1980s, Glenn Close made her name playing Albert Nobbs off-Broadway, and now almost 30 years later she’s finally managed to get it to the big screen with her in the lead role. She play plays a woman passing as a man in order to work and survive in 19th century Ireland. Some 30 years after donning men’s clothing, she finds herself trapped in a prison of her own making. Mia Wasikowska, Aaron Johnson and Brendan Gleeson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Janet McTeer, Brenda Fricker and Pauline Collins also star in a movie many expect to give Close her sixth Oscar nomination. There’s little doubt she makes a surprisingly good man in what could be a fascinating film. No UK release date is currently set.

Act Of Valor Trailer – Active duty Navy Seals star in a full-on action flick

13th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

You’d have thought the US military would have too much on it plate to let some of its active duty Navy SEALs to go off and make a movie, but perhaps it’s good PR, and it’s certainly a great hook for the film Act Of Valor, which sells itself on its cast of geunine Navy SEALs and the fact the movie features real tactics and weapons handled by people trained to use them. The plot is about a group of SEALs going to save a kidnapped CIA operative. It’s a bit early to say whether they movie itself is any good, but it’s an interesting idea and the trailer’s better than you might expect for what is essentially a bit of a gimmicky movie. No UK release is currently set.

The Divide Trailer – Surviving the apocalypse in a basement

12th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

Nobody ever makes a film about people in a confined space having a jolly lovely time and ending up deciding to be friends forever. Nope, in the movies getting locked in with a group of other people is a quick route to screaming, torment and quite possibly getting a shovel to the back of the head. Xavier Gens’ The Divide certainly seems to be going down this path. It’s about nine tenants of a New York high rise apartment, who escape a nuclear attack by hiding out in the building’s bunker-like basement. Trapped for days with no hope for rescue, the group begins to descend into madness. While everyone in the bunker allows themselves to be overcome by desperation and lose their humanity, one survivor holds onto a thin chance for escape even with no promise of salvation on the outside. Take a look at the trailer below. No UK release date is currently set.

New Carnage Trailer – Fresh look at Polanski’s star-studded four-hander

11th October 2011 By Tim Isaac

It seems that we’re supposed to once more forget about Roman Polanski’s child-shagging, fugitive status now that he’s been freed from his house arrest and just concentrate on the fact he’s a master filmmaker. After some successful festival screenings, his new movie, Carnage, is now preparing for its US release and so a fresh trailer has arrived. Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly star in what is essentially a four-hander that follows the aftermath of a showdown between two 11-year-old kids in a local playground. The parents of the ‘victim’ invite the parents of the ‘bully’ to their apartment to sort if out. Cordial banter gradually develops a razor-sharp edge as all four parents reveal their laughable contradictions and grotesque prejudices. None of them will escape the ensuing carnage. It’s all a little Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?, and it’ll be interesting to see if Polanski can handle a small intimate cast as well as he did with Death And The Maiden (which was mainly just three people). It’s set for UK release on February 3rd.
