Three Clips From Young Adult – Charlize Theron gets her bitch on for director Jason Reitman

15th November 2011 By Tim Isaac

In recent interviews, Charlize Theron has been having to explain why it’s not important to her if you like her characters, as long as you  understand and perhaps empathise with them. The reason she’s been talking about this is because she plays a bit of a bitch in Jason Reitman’s Young Adult (which also reunites him with Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody). Three new clips from the movie have now appeared online, so click below to take a look.

Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school, either. The UK release is due February 12th.

New The Iron Lady Trailer – Meryl Streep takes on Maggie Thatcher

14th November 2011 By Tim Isaac

A new trailer for the upcoming The Iron Lady has arrived, via The Daily Mail, but we’ve embedded it below (which should help those of you who understandably have an aversion to going anywhere near anything to do with the Daily Mail). Although some Mrs. T. lovers are still uncertain about Meryl Streep playing the great lady – partly because they immediately assumed the film will be a liberal hatchet job – she certainly seems to be doing a good job here! The film sees Maggie as an older woman looking back over her remarkable career, becoming Britain’s first female Prime Minister and one of the world’s most famous women, while facing a divided nation and becoming hated by many in the UK. The film opens in the UK on January 6th.

Michael J. Fox Plays Johnny B. Goode – The actor re-enacts the classic Back To The Future scene

14th November 2011 By Tim Isaac

As every good Back To The Future fan knows, rock ‘n’ roll proper began the day Marty McFly took to the stage of the Enchantment Under The Sea dance in 1950s Hilldale and sang Johnny B. Goode. Well, actor Michael J. Fox re-enacted that moment over the weekend at the charity event, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Cure Parkinson’s, in New York. It’s a shame the footage is a little wonky, but it’s a great thing to see and big respect to Fox for doing it. (Thanks to HuffPo and HeyUGuys for the tip)

The Hunger Games Trailer – Who’s going to win?

14th November 2011 By Tim Isaac

They’re certainly hyping up The Hunger Games, in the hopes it will take over from Twilight as the top young adult franchise around. Now the first full trailer for the movie has arrives, which certainly make the movie look intriguing and that it may hold interest for those a little older than the target audience. Jennifer Lawrence i heads a cast that also includes Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci, to tell the tale of a future society where the US has broken down into separate factions, and the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in The Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which ‘Tributes’ must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence), is representing District 12, replacing her chosen younger sister. The film arrives in cinemas March 23rd, 2012.

Toy Story Toons ‘Small Fry’ Teaser – A brief snippet of the short that’ll be attached to The Muppets

14th November 2011 By Tim Isaac

On Friday we posted the first pic from the upcoming Toy Story toon that’ll be attached to The Muppets, ‘Small Fry’. Now a second image and a 30 second teaser clip have arrived, which you can see above and below. It’s just proof of how special Toy Story is that a new short featuring the characters can generate so much interest! In the short, Buzz Lightyear is left behind at a fast food restaurant when a kids’ meal toy version of Buzz takes his place. While Bonnie’s toys are stuck with the annoying three-inch-tall Buzz impersonator, the real Buzz is trapped in the restaurant at a support group for discarded toys. As Woody and the gang devise a way to rescue their friend, Buzz tries to escape the toy psychotherapy meeting. We’ll get to see ‘Small Fry’ when it plays in front of The Muppets when it arrives in the UK on February 10th next year.
