Paranorman UK Teaser Trailer – Stop motion goes a little Sixth Sense

13th December 2011 By Tim Isaac

Nightmare Before Christmas director Henry Selick may have moved on from Laika, the animation company he helped found, but Laika is still in the business of creating intricate stop-motion movies, and from the evidence of this teaser trailer, Paranorman will be no different. In ParaNorman, a small town comes under siege by zombies. Who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee), who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst of all, moronic grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits. The film reaches the UK September 2012.

New The Flowers Of War Trailer – Christian Bale tries to protect the women of Nanjing

12th December 2011 By Tim Isaac

The Flowers Of War gets an Oscar-qualifying release in the US later this week, ready for a big awards run, with the hope the Chinese made movie may become the first fully made and funded in that country to win the big gongs. Whether it will remains to be seen, but if this trailer’s anything to go by, it’s a powerful and visually arresting movie. While it’s Chinese made, with Hero’s Yang Zhimou directing, the film is attempt to appeal to western audiences with most of it in English, with Christian Bale starring. The film sees Bale as a priest caught up in the events following the fall on Nanjing to the Japanese in 1937, with the plot revolving around a group of Chinese sex workers who volunteer to replace university students as forced escorts for invading soldiers. No UK release is currently fixed.

Men In Black 3 Trailer – Here they come once again and they’re going through time

12th December 2011 By Tim Isaac

The Men In Black are back and coming to cinemas with their third adventure on May 25th, 2012. To try and get people excited, the first trailer is here, although as it’s still pretty early, it’s more about reigniting the franchise than telling us about the film itself. However it does let us know that somehow Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) has been dead for 40 years and the only way to sort that out is to get Will Smith to travel back to 1969. The film had troubles during shooting, with half of it having to be delayed while they rewrote the script for the 60s section. Hopefully they sorted the problems out and it’ll be a welcom return for the alien monitoring agents.

And doesn’t Josh Brolin look uncannily like a young Tommy Lee Jones? Don’t believe us? Well watch the trailer.

What to Expect When You’re Expecting Trailer – All the dubious joys of pregnancy

9th December 2011 By Tim Isaac

Turning a self-help book into a movie is a bit of a strange idea if you ask me, but they’ve done it with What To Expect When You’re Expecting, which follows several couples through the dubious joys of pregnancy. Over the moon about starting a family, TV fitness guru Jules and dance show star Evan find that their high-octane celebrity lives don’t stand a chance against the surprise demands of pregnancy. Baby-crazy author and advocate Wendy gets a taste of her own militant mommy advice when pregnancy hormones ravage her body; while Wendy’s husband, Gary, struggles not to be outdone by his competitive alpha-Dad, who’s expecting twins with his much younger trophy wife, Skyler. Photographer Holly is prepared to travel the globe to adopt a child, but her husband Alex isn’t so sure, and tries to quiet his panic by attending a “dudes” support group, where new fathers get to tell it like it really is. And rival food truck chefs Rosie and Marco’s surprise hook-up results in an unexpected quandary: what to do when your first child comes before your first date? The film’s out next May.

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted Trailer – The animals are back and joining the circus

9th December 2011 By Tim Isaac

It’ll probably make bucket loads of money, but it appears the Madagascar franchise is running out of ideas, as for the third installment they’ve got the animal to continue their world tour, this time coming to Europe to join the circus. Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe are still fighting to get home to their beloved Big Apple and of course, King Julien, Maurice and the Penguins are all along for the ride. It hits cinemas June 2012.

New Battleship Trailer – Plus a new poster for next year’s alien invasion flick

9th December 2011 By Tim Isaac

After the success of the Transformers franchise, it appears Hasbro feels the best way to ensure box office success is to explode everything you can (working with Michael Bay will have that effect on you). It certainly seems to be the logic in Battleship, as there’s a ridiculous amount of things blowing up and even the sound effects in this trailer are deliberately reminiscent of Tranformers. It’s looks fun though! Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard and Liam Neeson star in the film, which sees a fleet of ships being forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals. Universal is hoping it’ll be huge at the box office next summer. Watch the trailer and see what you think. The film hits the UK April 20th.
