Sacha Baron Cohen is back next summer as The Dictator, and now the first trailer is here, which is light on plot but big on star cameos and showing off the silliness. The film is ‘The heroic story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed’. Bizarrely, it’s partly based on a book by Saddam Hussein! It’s due out May 18th, 2012, but watch the trailer below and see Megan Fox playing herself as a hooker!
The Expendables 2 Teaser Trailer – Even expendablier than before!
To be honest, this is less a trailer a more a list of people appearing in the movie, but that’s half the fun of the nostalgia trip that is the The Expendables. So if you’re interested in seeing who’s back for the sequel, take a look at the trailer.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal… Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Lee Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard – are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time – six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way.’ It’ll be in cinemas August, 2012.
Rock Of Ages Trailer – Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta Jones and more get their hair metal on!
One of the more bizarre yet intriguing movies of 2012 is Rock Of Ages, based on the Broadway musical that takes a whole host of 80s hair metal tunes from the likes of Def Leppard and Foreigner, and mixes it with the the story of small town girl called Sherrie and city boy called Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. If you watch the trailer, it’s more than a little bizarre, but could be a lot of fun. It’s just a shame that while there’s a big build up to seeing Tom Cruise as rocker Stacee Jaxx, we don’t get to see him rock out! It’s due in UK cinemas June 8th.
Five Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close Clips – Will it be an Oscar contender?
Five new clips have popped up online from the Oscar contender Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, which you can watch below. Based on the acclaimed novel of the same name, the film tells the story of one young boy’s journey from heartbreaking loss to the healing power of self-discovery, set against the backdrop of the tragic events of September 11. Eleven-year-old Oskar Schell is an exceptional child: amateur inventor, Francophile, pacifist. And after finding a mysterious key that belonged to his father, who died in the World Trade Center on 9/11, he embarks on an exceptional journey – an urgent, secret search through the five boroughs of New York. As Oskar roams the city, he encounters a motley assortment of humanity, who are all survivors in their own ways. The film stars Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks, and hits UK cinemas on February 3rd.
Shame Featurette – Director Steve McQueen talks about the acclaimed film
Shame has attracted huge amounts of praise, and despite an NC-17 rating – often seen as a kiss of death at the box office in the US – has got off to a strong start in America, with many tipping Michael Fassbender for an Oscar. It reaches the UK on January 13th, but before then it’s worth taking a look at this featurette, which sees director Steve McQueen talking about the movie.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer – A fresh start with Bruce Willis in tow
G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra got pilloried by many people, but it actually made a fair amount of cash. So while Paramount was keen to continue the franchise, it appears they also wanted to start over a little as well – or at least that’s what this trailer suggests. Going for a less flashly silly style than the first film, this looks like it’ll be more grounded and action-packed. It’s actually kind of interesting though that Channing Tatum’s Duke seems to be slightly sidelined in favour of introducing Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock and Bruce Willis as the original GI Joe, as well as showing off some spectacular Snake Eyes fighting. The film June 22nd, but enjoy the trailer.
