It’s taken a long time to get Red Tails from shoot to cinema (it filmed well over two years ago), but the George Lucas produced Red Tails is finally on its way, and while there’s no definite UK date yet, it’s released in the US later this month. In hope of getting people excited, a seven minute preview of the movie has been released, which largely shows off the spectacular aerial dogfight footage (Lucas has said it’s the closest people will ever get to Star Wars VII), as well as a few quieter scenes. The film is about a crew of African American pilots in the Tuskegee training program, who, having faced segregation and been kept mostly on the ground during World War II, are called into duty under the guidance of Col. A.J. Bullard.
LOL Trailer – Miley Cyrus wants us to laugh out loud
The Last Song suggested Miley Cyrus might have a decent post-Hannah Montana movie career, but if this trailer is anything to go by, LOL is determined throw away any goodwill Miley might have had. Here’s the synopsis: ‘In a world connected by YouTube, iTunes, and Facebook, Lola (Cyrus) and her friends navigate the peer pressures of high school romance and friendship while dodging their sometimes overbearing and confused parents. Through hilarious and heartfelt moments between mother and daughter, LOL is a fresh coming-of-age story for modern times.’ The film’s due out June 1st.
Girl In Progress Trailer – Eva Mendes isn’t exactly a perfect mother
The coming of age movie is a bit of a staple, and they range from great to truly dreadful. However it looks like Girl In Progress might be one of the better ones. The film follows a 13-year-old girls who’s been somewhat negelcted by her imperfect mother (Eva Mendes) and looks to a teen rite-of-passage as a way of changing her life. The film will be out later this year.
Upside Down Trailer – Take a look at the intriguing and unusual sci-fi
Although it’s difficult to work out from this whether Upside Down will be good or not, it’s certainly an intriguing idea and from this evidence it’s going to be visually arresting. The film is a conceptual romance/sci-fi from director Juan Solanas. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Adam is a seemingly ordinary guy in a very extraordinary universe. He lives humbly trying to make ends meet, but his romantic spirit holds on to the memory of a girl he met once upon a time from another world, an inverted affluent world with its own gravity, directly above but beyond reach (each universe is in the sky of the other, able to see once another but not interact)
a girl named Eve. Their childhood flirtation becomes an impossible love. But when he catches a glimpse of grown-up Eve on television, nothing will get in the way of getting her back
’ No UK release date is currently set.
Streetdance 2 Trailer – The 3D dancing sensation returns
Streetdance surprised many when it became a huge hit at UK cinemas in 2012. A sequel quickly got the greenlight in the hope of mopping up some more cash. Whether the follow-up will succeed is tought to tell, as you can’t help but feel the first film was slightly riding on the popularity of 3D, which has rather waned since then. However with all things urban still in vogue, it’ll probably still find an appreciatine audience.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘When top street dancer Ash (Falk Hentschel) is humiliated and laughed off stage by American crew Invincible, he sets off to gather the best dancers from around the world to take them on – with a dance style they weren’t expecting. With landmark locations, a spectacular fusion of dance styles and an unparalleled vibrancy, the sequel to StreetDance sees our hero fall in love with a beautiful salsa dancer as he discovers the magic, power and passion of dancing for the ultimate global dance off.’ It’s out March 30th, but a new trailer has now arrived.
