That’s My Boy Red Band Trailer – Adam Sandler may ruin his son’s wedding

2nd March 2012 By Tim Isaac

I’m pretty much immune to the charms of Adam Sandler, but he’s undoubtedly popular, as even his movies that are considered flops generally turn a profit when all is said and done. To my eyes, even the trailer for That’s My Boy is painful to view, but it’ll undoubtedly be a big hit. In the movie Sandler plays an absent father who moves in with his son right before his wedding and soon begins sparring with his daughter-in-law, as well as causing chaos in everyone’s lives. It’s due out in June.

Bernie Trailer – Jack Black tries a darker brand of humour

1st March 2012 By Tim Isaac

Jack Black and director Richard Linklater scored a big hit School Of Rock, and now they’re getting back together for Bernie, which will see Black trying a darker brand of comedy than we’ve had from him before. He plays a small-town Texas mortician who strikes up a friendship with a wealthy widow (Shirley Maclaine). However when he kills her, he goes to great lengths to create the illusion that she’s still alive. Matthew McConaughey co-stars, back with Linklater for the first time since Dazed & Confused. There’s no UK release date set as yet, but it’s out in the US April 27th.

Neighborhood Watch Teaser Trailer – Stiller, Vaughn, Ayoade and Hill protect the world!

1st March 2012 By Tim Isaac

The first poster and promo for this summer’s action comedy, Neighborhood Watch, have arrived, and while they don’t tell us much about the plot, they do reveal that perhaps Ben Stiller, Vinch Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade are taking the whole idea of Neighborhood Watch way too seriously. The guy guys set up the group as an excuse to escape their humdrum lives one night a week. But when they accidentally discover that their town has become overrun with aliens posing as ordinary suburbanites, they have no choice but to save their neighborhood – and the world – from total extermination. The movie is due out August 22nd.

Universal Launches New Animated Logo – Weta Digital makes things a whole lot cooler

1st March 2012 By Tim Isaac

Universal Studios unveiled a new static logo a couple of months ago as part of its 100th Anniversary celebration, and now the new animated version, which will appear in front of the studio’s movies from now on, has debuted. It may just be a studio logo, but it’s incredibly cool!

“Our centennial year is the perfect opportunity to create a new logo that reflects our future while honouring our past,” said Ron Meyer, Universal Studios President and COO.  “Universal’s new logo celebrates the studio’s extraordinary legacy in creating lasting movie memories, and connecting viewers across the globe.”

For the new animated logo design, Universal teamed up with the Academy Award winning visual effects artists at New Zealand-based Weta Digital, best known for producing the effects for the likes of Lord Of The Rings and Rise Of The Planet of The Apes. Take a look below.
