New Rock Of Ages Trailer – All the 80s hair metal hits you can handle, with bonus Tom Cruise!

3rd April 2012 By Tim Isaac

Rock Of Ages is one of those movies that could either be inspired genius or absolutely awful and from this trailer it’s tough to tell which. Coming across as a rather camp, tongue in cheek spoof on the 80s, filled with the music of Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and more, it’s certainly an unusual beast. Now a new full trailer for the musical has arrived, which largely seems to be about making us wait to hear whether Tom Cruise can sing (and when he does, it appears the autotune has been working overtime). The film tells the story of a small town girl called Sherrie and city boy called Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams, all mixed in with the fortunes of a club and the rock star Stacee Jaxx (Cruise). The UK release is set for June 15th.

Total Recall Trailer – Colin Farrell doesn’t know who he is!

2nd April 2012 By Tim Isaac

This is less a trailer than a lot of flashy images, but it does suggest this new take on Total Recall will be both very different to and yet oddly similar to the Paul Verhoeven version, as well as rather hectic. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.’ The film’s due out August 22nd.

Ted Red Band Trailer – Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane channels his inner teddy bear

2nd April 2012 By Tim Isaac

It’s taken Family Guy and American Dad creator Seth MacFarlane way too long to bring his unique brand of comedy to the big screen, where he isn’t hemmed in by the prurience of network TV. Now a red band trailer for Ted has arrived, which is bound to get a lot of people very excited with its silliness, rudeness and potential to be a real laugh-out-loud corker. Ted revolves around an average Boston guy (Mark Wahlberg) who, when he was young, was granted his dearest wish, that his teddy bear would come to life. Years later the teddy is still his best friend, but the relationship has become strained as rather than being a sweet and nice Care Bears type creature, Ted is a carousing, irresponsible, womanising, pot-smoking slacker, who is getting in the way of his buddy committing to adulthood and the girl he loves (Mila Kunis).’ A UK release is set for August 3rd.

House At The End Of The Street Trailer – Jennifer Lawrence heads for horror-thriller territory!

30th March 2012 By Tim Isaac

It’s almost as if Jennifer Lawrence & Elizabeth Shue have never watched a thriller – you don’t go and live in a house near where murders took place years before, as it’s just a bad idea. However that’s just what they do in House At The End Of The Street, when newly divorced Sarah (Oscar-nominee Elisabeth Shue) and her daughter Elissa (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Lawrence) find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town, right next door to a place where a daughter killed her parents in their beds, and disappeared – leaving only a brother, Ryan (Max Thieriot), as the sole survivor. Against Sarah’s wishes, Elissa begins a relationship with the reclusive Ryan – and the closer they get, the deeper they’re all pulled into a mystery more dangerous than they ever imagined. The film should hit cinemas this autumn.

People Like Us Trailer – Chris Pine discovers Elizabeth Banks is his sister!

30th March 2012 By Tim Isaac

Alex Kurtzman made his name co-writing and producing the likes of the Transformers movies, Star Trek and Cowboys & Aliens, but for his directorial he’s going to something a tad smaller and more personal, but still with a high-powered cast including Chris Pine, Michelle Pfeiffer, Olivia Wilde and Elizabeth Banks. Inspired by true events, Chris Pine plays Sam, a twenty-something, fast-talking salesman, whose latest deal collapses on the day he learns that his father has suddenly died. Against his wishes, Sam is called home, where he must put his father’s estate in order and reconnect with his estranged family. In the course of fulfilling his father’s last wishes, Sam uncovers a startling secret that turns his entire world upside down: He has a 30-year-old sister, Frankie, whom he never knew about (Elizabeth Banks). As their relationship develops, Sam is forced to rethink everything he thought he knew about this family – and re-examine his own life choices in the process. A US release is set for June, but no UK release has been announced yet.

New Mirror Mirror UK Trailer – Lily Collins likes wearing swans on her head!

30th March 2012 By Tim Isaac

Mirror Mirror is hoping to capture the Easter Holiday crowd when it opens on Monday, but before then a new US trailer has debuted, hoping to draw us in with the potential fun of this Snow White tale. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Mirror Mirror is a spectacular reimagining of the classic fairy tale starring Oscar® winner Julia Roberts as the Queen, Lily Collins (The Blind Side) as Snow White, Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as Prince Alcott, Sean Bean (“The Game of Thrones”, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) as the King and Nathan Lane (The Lion King, The Birdcage) as the Queen’s hapless and bungling servant, Brighton.

‘Visionary director Tarsem Singh (Immortals) rewrites fairy tale history as a wicked enchantress (Roberts) schemes and scrambles for control of a spirited orphan’s (Collins) throne and the attention of a charming prince (Hammer). When Snow White’s beauty wins the heart of the prince that she desperately pursues, the Queen banishes her to the forest, where a ravening man-eating beast hungrily awaits.

‘Rescued by a band of diminutive highway robbers, Snow White grows into an indomitable young woman determined to take back her realm from the treacherous Queen. With the support of her subjects, she roars into action in an epic battle that blends spectacle, magic and contemporary humor in Singh’s signature, jaw-dropping visual style.’ The film is due out April 2nd.
