Well this looks like it might be fun. David O’Russell’s film has an incredible cast including Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Julia Stiles and Chris Tucker (making his first non Rush Hour film appearance since Jackie Brown in 1997). Here’s the synopsis: ‘Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Pat Solatano (Cooper) has lost everything – his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother and father after spending eight months in a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat’s parents want is for him to get back on his feet – and to share their family’s obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. When Pat meets Tiffany (Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he’ll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives.’
The Man With The Iron Fists Red Band Trailer – RZA offers some truly OTT action in his directorial debut
The Man With The Iron Fists look totally insane, but really rather cool. Set in in feudal China, a blacksmith who makes weapons for a small village is put in the position where he must defend himself and his fellow villagers. The movie is directed by RZA and start Russell Crowe, Jamie Chung and Lucy Lui, with the likes of Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino. It’s due out later this year.
Looper Trailer – Loads more plot in the UK promo for Gordon-Levitt & Willis flick
While we had a trailer for Looper a few weeks ago, it was a bit light on plot. However that’s been remedied with the new UK promo, which gives a much better sense of Rian Johnson’s time travel move. Joe (Jospeh Gordon Levitt) works as a looper, a futuristic assassin who receives and eliminates targets sent back in time by a criminal organisation. The only rule is that you do not let your target escape even if that target is you. Looper stars Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Emily Blunt and is released on September 28.
New Total Recall Trailer – Three breasted hookers ahoy!
There’s been a lot of talk about what’s been changed and what’s stayed the same in the new remake of Total Recall, to the point where many have wondered if it’s a remake at all. However this new trailer seems designed to show there’ll be quite a lot of familiar elements, even if it doesn’t head to Mars – hell, there’s even a three-breasted hooker. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.’ It’s due out August 29th.
Red Hook Summer Trailer – Spike Lee heads back to Brooklyn
Other than his documentaries, Spike Lee has been relatively commercial for the past few years, but now he’s going in an indie direction and back to Brooklyn for Red hook Summer. The film tells the story of Flik Royale (Jules Brown), a young boy who travels from Atlanta to stay with his bishop grandfather, Enoch Rouse (Clarke Peters), in Brooklyn for the summer. For a while it seems as though it’s going to be a hellish couple of months, as Enoch keeps trying to show Flik the way of Jesus, but then he meets a young girl named Chazz Morningstar (Toni Lysaith), who begins to show him the other side of the city. The film also stars Nate Parker, James Ransone, and Thomas Jefferson Byrd. No UK release date is currently set.
Hit And Run Red Band Trailer – Dax Shepard & Bradley Cooper turn bank robbers
Hit and Run is the story of Charlie Bronson (Dax Shepard), a former getaway driver who busts out of the Witness Protection Program to drive his girlfriend (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles so she can land her dream job. Their road trip grows awkwardly complicated, when they are chased by the feds (led by Tom Arnold), and increasingly dangerous, when Charlie’s former gang of criminals (led by Bradley Cooper) enter the fray. Although Shepard has a variable track record in lead roles, it’s a great cast. The trailer does skirt on the edge of racism and seems slightly obsessed with Bradley Cooper having been raped in prison, but hopefully in the context of the movie it doesn’t come across a homophobic.
