After years trying to get it off the ground, the musical version of Les Miserables is finally heading for the big screen and it’ll be here this Christmas. However it’s slightly unusual, as while musicals normally having all the singing completed in a studio before the actors head to the set, director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) decided to get everyone to sing live. It was a brave decision, and now a new featurette has popped up online focussing on this aspect of the production. It certainly sounds like it could really make a difference to the film, but we’ll have to wait until December to truly find out. Take a look at the featurette above.

Many people were less than impressed with the idea of Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley playing the late musician Jeff Buckley, but now the first trailer gives us a taste for his efforts, which may not be as bad as some had feared. In 1991 Jeff Buckley is an unknown twenty four year-old LA musician and gets invited to participate in a tribute concert in New York City for his late father Tim Buckley, the iconic folk rock star. In the days leading up to the concert, Jeff grapples with his own self doubts and the legacy of his famous father. But with the loving help of an enigmatic young woman working at the concert, he finds the courage to perform at the now legendary St. Anns concert, where Jeff discovers his own voice singing his fathers songs, captivating the audience and launching Jeff’s own meteoric career. Simultaneously told in 1991 and 1966, Greetings from Tim Buckley poignantly explores the interweaving paths of a father and son who were among the most beloved singer-songwriters of their generations.
