Julia Roberts To Star In Adaptation Of Cynthia Swanson’s The Bookseller

12th May 2017 By Tim Isaac

Since she became a mother, we haven’t seen quite as much of Julia Roberts as we once did. However, she’s now picked a new project she plans to star in, as Variety reports she’s attached to an adaptation of Cynthia Swanson’s The Bookseller.

The book is about Kitty Miller, a single woman in the 1960s running a bookstore with her best friend, Frieda. He hopes for marriage and a family have never quite worked out. Then she starts to have dreams about an alternate life, one where she’s a slightly different woman who’s married with kids and seems to have the life Kitty has always wanted. At first this world only exists when she dreams, but could she eventually get to the point where she could choose that existence instead?

It’s early days though as no screenwriter or director is currently attached. It’s not known either when the film might shoot.

It seems to be the summer of girls going a bit wild while away from home, as in June we’ve also got Rough Night, which features Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, and Zoë Kravitz on a bachelorette weekend in Miami. We’ll have to see whether a trip to New Orleans or Miami is better. [Read more…]

New Cars 3 Trailer – Has age caught up to Lightning McQueen?

10th May 2017 By Tim Isaac

It looks like things are slightly coming full circle with Cars 3. In the first movie, young hotshot Lightning McQueen teamed up with an aging auto the world has given up on, Doc Hudson, to become a true champion (and a nicer car). Now it’s Lightning who’s getting older, with newer, more powerful cars lining up to race past him.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!’

The movie will be in UK cinemas on July 14th, Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

Baywatch Red Band Trailer – Dwayne Johnson & Zac Efron get their lifeguard on

10th May 2017 By Tim Isaac

It’s only a couple of weeks until we get to see whether the idea of rebooted 90s TV hit Baywatch as a big screen comedy vehicle for Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson was a good idea or not. To help convince us it will be, a new Red Band trailer for the movie has arrived.

The film itself is, of course, based on the hit 90s TV series. As you might expect being taken from show that’s known for being pretty cheesy, the film keeps it’s tongue firmly in its cheek. And yes, there is some slo-mo running in swimsuits. The movies follows ‘devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchanan (Johnson) as he butts heads with a brash new recruit (Efron). Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.’

Take a look at the new trailer below. Baywatch will be in cinemas on May 29th. [Read more…]

The Limehouse Golem Trailer – Douglas Booth & Bill Nighy are on the trail of a Victorian serial killer

10th May 2017 By Tim Isaac

Synopsis: ‘A serial killer stalks the Limehouse streets of Victorian London in 1880, the terrified population of this squalid district of the East End believe that the “Golem”, a monster from Judaic mythology, is responsible. Inspector Kildare of Scotland Yard is handed the impossible task of solving these heinous crimes and his investigations lead him on a race across the capital from The Old Bailey, to Newgate Prison, to the music halls of London and the British Museum. His chief suspects are music hall superstar Dan Leno, political agitator Karl Marx, writer and philosopher George Gissing and journalist John Cree. Kildare believes that famed performer Little Lizzie Cree, who is almost certainly destined to hang for the poisoning of her husband, holds the key to the identity of the real Golem. Kildare must solve the case and in doing so, he believes he will save the life of Elizabeth Cree.

The Limehouse Golem is directed by Juan Carlos Medina (Painless), based on the popular 1994 novel ‘Dan Leno and the Limehouse Golem’ by author Peter Ackroyd, and brought to life by Jane Goldman (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, The Woman in Black, Kingsman: The Secret Service) who wrote the screenplay…

‘The cast is led by BAFTA award-winning Bill Nighy (Their Finest, Skylight, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) as Detective Inspector John Kildare, Olivia Cook (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Ready Player One) as Elizabeth Cree, Douglas Booth (The Riot Club) as performer Dan Leno, Sam Reid (’71, The Railway Man) as John Cree, Daniel Mays (Line of Duty, Made in Dagenham) as George Flood, Maria Valverde (Exodus: Gods and Kings),  and  Eddie Marsan (Filth, The World’s End, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell) as ‘Uncle’.’

The movie will be in UK cinemas in September. [Read more…]

9th May 2017 By Tim Isaac

Will this be the female Hangover? It’s certainly got that vibe, with a group of friends having a raunchy, foul-mouthed night out ahead of a wedding. It’s also got a great cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, and Zoë Kravitz.

Their hard partying takes a hilariously dark turn when they accidentally kill a male stripper. Amidst the craziness of trying to cover it up, they’re ultimately brought closer together when it matters most.’
