mother! Trailer – Darren Aronofsky heads into horror territory with Jennifer Lawrence

8th August 2017 By Tim Isaac

Darren Aronofsky (Noah, Black Swan) likes to make unusual films, and it seems his latest, mother! will follow that trend. This time around it looks like he’s going to be trying to scare us with something intense and a little bit weird. Jennifer Lawrence certainly doesn’t look like she’s having a good time.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence. From filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream), mother! stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer in this riveting psychological thriller about love, devotion and sacrifice.’

The movie is due in cinemas on September 15th. Take a look at the teaser below. [Read more…]

Take Your First Official Look At Josh Brolin As Cable In Deadpool 2

7th August 2017 By Tim Isaac

Over the last weeks we’ve had a few images teasing Josh Brolin’s look as Cable in the upcoming Deadpool 2. Now we have our first official images, which Ryan Reynolds has tweeted out.

Cable is in many ways being the opposite of Deadpool: a man who is a leader and used to being obeyed, who is very controlled but with an aura of simmering violence. He has telepathic and telekinetic powers, and he also has incredible fighting skills, somewhat helped by the fact he’s been infected by a techno-organic virus, which has turned him into a part-cyborg.

This probably won’t be Brolin’s only outing as the character either, as he apparently signed a four-picture deal, which many assume means he’s also be a major part of the planned X-Force movie. Expect Deadpool 2 in cinemas June 2018, and take a the pics of Josh as Cable below. [Read more…]

Death Wish Trailer – Bruce Willis stars in Eli Roth’s take on the Charles Bronson classic

5th August 2017 By Tim Isaac

Directed by Michael Winner and starring Charles Bronson, 1974’s Death Wish is one of the classic revenge thrillers, about a man who becomes a vigilante following the death of his wife. The movie spawned four sequels over the next 20 years.

Now it’s getting a reimagining, with Hostel and Cabin Fever helmer Eli Roth directing, and Bruce Willis in the starring role.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Dr. Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) is a surgeon who only sees the aftermath of Chicago violence when it is rushed into his ER – until his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and college-age daughter (Camila Morrone) are viciously attacked in their suburban home. With the police overloaded with crimes, Paul, burning for revenge, hunts his family’s assailants to deliver justice. As the anonymous slayings of criminals grabs the media’s attention, the city wonders if this deadly vigilante is a guardian angel or a grim reaper.’

The movie is due in cinemas towards the end of the year. [Read more…]

First They Killed My Father Trailer – Take a look at Angelina Jolie’s Cambodian genocide drama

5th August 2017 By Tim Isaac

There’s been a little controversy in the last week or two about whether Angelina Jolie stepped over the line during the audition process for her new movie, First They Killed My Father, and whether the ‘games’ she played with the children pushed things to far with potentially vulnerable people. However, the movie itself seems like a genuinely sincere effort to shine a light on an often overlooked chapter in modern world history.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The Netflix original film First They Killed My Father will launch on Friday, September 15 in theatres and globally on Netflix. Directed by Angelina Jolie, First They Killed My Father is the adaptation of Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung’s gripping memoir of surviving the deadly Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1978. The story is told through her eyes, from the age of five, when the Khmer Rouge came to power, to nine years old. The film depicts the indomitable spirit and devotion of Loung and her family as they struggle to stay together during the Khmer Rouge years.’

Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Ian McShane Will Be Professor Bloom In The Hellboy Reboot

5th August 2017 By Tim Isaac

A couple of months ago it was announced that with the idea of a third Guillermo Del Toro directed Hellboy movie well and truly dead, a reboot is in the works. David Harbour (Stranger Things) is already attached to the the central role, and Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) in talks to direct.

Now the movie has found its Professor Bloom, the man who in the original comics found the infant Hellboy when he’d been summoned to Earth by the Nazis during the Second World War, and then taken him to America and raised him. The man who’s stepped in the role is Ian McShane, according to THR.

Some has expressed surprise at McShane’s casting, as Broom is usually seen as a rather small, bookish man, as opposed to the British actor’s more dangerous, muscular persona. The movie should start shooting in September, so expect to see it sometime in 2918 or early 2019.
