The LEGO Movie 2 Trailer – Things are going a bit sci-fi Mad Max for the little yellow people

Synopsis: ‘“The LEGO® Movie 2” reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.

‘Reprising their fan-favorite characters from “The LEGO Movie” are Chris Pratt as Emmet, Elizabeth Banks as Lucy (aka Wyldstyle), Will Arnett as LEGO BatmanTM, Nick Offerman as Metal Beard, and Alison Brie as Unikitty. They are joined by Tiffany Haddish, Stephanie Beatriz, and Arturo Castro as, respectively, new characters Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi, Sweet Mayhem and Ice Cream Cone.’

Spider-man: Into The Spider-verse Trailer – A new Spidey gets an animated movie

Synopsis: Sony Pictures Animation today launched the first full trailer for Spider-Man™:Into the Spider-Verse and confirmed the vocal cast joining Shameik Moore as he takes on the role of Miles Morales.

‘Jake Johnson is joining the cast as Miles’ reluctant mentor, Peter Parker, with Liev Schreiber playing the larger-than-life crime lord Kingpin, Hailee Steinfeld playing the spunky, free-spirited Spider-Gwen, Oscar® winner Mahershala Ali as Miles’ influential uncle Aaron, Brian Tyree Henry playing Miles’ father Jefferson, Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mother Rio, and Lily Tomlin as Aunt May.

‘Commenting on the announcement, producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller said, “We are lucky to have such an amazing cast of funny, genuine creative souls to populate the Spider-verse. They have generous minds and great big hearts. And they have very talented throats. Which is where their delightful voices come from.”

‘Lord and Miller continued: “We can’t wait for the world to see Miles Morales on the big screen. He’s such a fun and exciting new character, and telling his story through a revolutionary visual style makes for a totally fresh cinematic experience that, if we may say so, is freaking amazing.”

‘Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask. Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, the screenplay is by Phil Lord. The film is produced, in association with Marvel, by Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Christina Steinberg.’

New Mortal Engines Trailer – Peter Jackson presents a steampunk fantasy where London is literally on the move

Synopsis: ‘Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.

‘Mortal Engines is the startling, new epic adventure directed by Oscar®-winning visual-effects artist Christian Rivers (King Kong). Joining Rivers are The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies three-time Academy Award®-winning filmmakers Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who have penned the screenplay. The Universal and MRC adaptation is from the award-winning book series by Philip Reeve, published in 2001 by Scholastic.

‘On board as producers are Zane Weiner (The Hobbit trilogy), Amanda Walker (The Hobbit trilogy) and Deborah Forte (Goosebumps), as well as Walsh and Jackson. Ken Kamins (The Hobbit trilogy) joins Boyens as executive producer. Universal will distribute the film worldwide.

Bumblebee Trailer – The popular Transformer is getting his own movie

Rather than just make more and more Transformers films, Paramount has decided it’s time for a spin-off, with the big, yellow Bumblebee getting him own film. Set before the recent set of robot movies, the new film will see what the autobot was up to in the 1980s.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.’

White Boy Rick Trailer – Matthew McConaughey takes on the 1980s Drug War (via a teenager)

Synopsis: ‘Set in 1980s Detroit at the height of the crack epidemic and the War on Drugs, WHITE BOY RICK is based on the moving true story of a blue-collar father and his teenage son, Rick Wershe Jr., who became an undercover police informant and later a drug dealer, before he was abandoned by his handlers and sentenced to life in prison.’

Matthew McConaughey stars in the movie, which tells the true story of someone who became an FBI informant and key player in the local war on drugs, all before he was 16-years old. The first trailer for the movie has now arrived, which you can watch below.

Suspiria Trailer – Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson & Chloë Grace Moretz star in the long-gestating remake

Ever since it was first hinted there might be a remake of Dario Argento’s classic 1977 horror movie Suspiria, people have been grumbling that it shouldn’t be touched. However, it appears the first trailer for Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino’s new take on the story is keen to show this will be a very different film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘As a darkness builds at the center of a world-renowned dance company, its artistic director (Tilda Swinton), a young American new to the troupe (Dakota Johnson), and a grieving psychotherapist (Lutz Ebersdorf) become entangled in a bloody, sighing nightmare.’
