WIN! Tash Force DVDs – Get your hands of the new British cop comedy

23rd April 2012 By Tim Isaac

The new British comedy Tash Force is out on DVD now, and we’ve got five copies to give away in this great comp! The film is a madcap comedy following Tash McDermott, the head of Lancashire Constabulary’s Football Intelligence Unit, as he tries to track down a football hooligan ring leader, and put a stop to “shenanigans” on the football terraces.

Tash is on the trail of the elusive ‘Nightmare’, a notorious football firm hooligan. But, inspired by TV programmes like ‘Police, Camera, Action’, Tash gives a journalist unrestricted access to his day to day operations. The trouble is, Tash is still stuck in the glory days of the past, when football was a man’s game, women knew their place, a ruck was pretty much guaranteed, and he was top of the league for arrests and banning orders.

The film is out on DVD on April 23rd through Safecracker Pictures, but if you’d like to try and win one of the five copies we’ve got to give away, sign in to the site below (or click here to register) and answer the multiple choice question (see below for more details on how to enter). The competition closes on May 6th, 2012, so get answering and good luck!

WIN! Freud & The Execution Of Private Slovik DVDs – Two little seen classics could be yours

23rd April 2012 By Tim Isaac

You’d think by now that every great classic film would be available on DVD by now but on Monday 23rd April two unreleased films to UK DVD finally come out: Freud – directed by the legendary John Huston is a magnificent film noir starring Montgomery Clift, whilst The Execution of Private Slovik – an 8 Emmy Award nominated war classic – stars the always brilliant Martin Sheen. And we’ve got a three copies of each of the films to give away to three lucky people.

It always amazes me how few Montgomery Clift films people have seen, as he was a superb actor. Freud was his final leading role, as his declining health made film appearances increasingly difficult after 1962, and sees him as the famed psychotherapist, facing scorn for his controversial theories. The Execution of Private Slovik meanwhile is about the man who in 1944 became the only man executed by the US military for desertion since the Civil War.

If you’d like to try and win one of three sets of Freud and The Execution Of Pirvate Slovik that we’ve got to give away, sign in to the site below (or click here to register) and answer the multiple choice question (see below for more details on how to enter). The competition closes on May 6th, 2012, so get answering and good luck!

New Hysteria Trailer – Maggie Gyllenhaal helps to invent the vibrator!

16th April 2012 By Tim Isaac

The complicated sexual mores of the Victorians have always been of interest to slightly prurient tastes, and Hysteria gives a bit of a comic look at the odd contradictions of the time. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hugh Dancy star in this cheeky romantic comedy about the invention of the vibrator. Victorian London is brought to life in vivid colour as a young doctor (Dancy) struggles to establish himself while confronting the gutsy daughter of his boss (Gyllenhaal). Rupert Everett and Felicity Jones play supporting roles.’ The vibrator was originally developed to help treat ‘female hysteria’ (believe it or not, back then many doctors manually stimulated ladies to orgasm, which was viewed as a purely medical practice to treat nervous conditions, and not sexual at all). No UK release date is currently set.

WIN! Hardcore: Bare Naked Talent DVDs – Five copies of the Brit flick mockumentary to give away

13th April 2012 By Tim Isaac

If you enjoy comedy with a bit of a naughty edge, then this is the comp for you, as we have five copies of the Brit flick mockumentary, Hardcore: Bare Naked Talent to give away!

In the movie filmmaker ‘Jack Innov’ wants to make serious movies but after years spent making low budget horror film rip-off’s, he realises his only chance is to bankroll his dreams on the back of a sweeping romantic self-penned porn epic titled ‘Assanova’. Alas Jack’s quest to film his tour de force is beset with difficulties right from the start.

Managing the minuscule budget is a piece of cake compared to the antics of the eccentric and eclectic cast and crew (including a junkie continuity girl, a naked German cinematographer and a pair of lesbian actresses who feel uncomfortable using explicit language). But Jack is a man on a mission and no mishaps or obstacles will sway him from the creation of his modern minor masterpiece.

The film is out on DVD on April 16th through Safecracker Pictures, but if you’d like to try and win one of the five copies we’ve got to give away, sign in to the site below (or click here to register) and answer the multiple choice question (see below for more details on how to enter). The competition closes on April 26th, 2012, so get answering and good luck!
