Win A Baytown Outlaws DVD & T-shirt – Get your fix of Southern redneck violence

24th December 2012 By Tim Isaac

More potent than a shot of Alabama moonshine, Eva Longoria and Billy Bob Thornton, star in The Baytown Outlaws, a super-charged, foul-mouthed and very bloody, Tarantino-esque action-comedy, directed and co-written by Barry Battles.

The Baytown Outlaws is out to own on DVD and Blu-ray from 26th December!

Courtesy of Universal Pictures (UK), we have extremely limited edition, one of a kind, exclusive T-shirt and a copy of the film on DVD to be won!

Meet the Oodies, a trio of redneck hillbilly brothers whose main source of fun – and only source of employment – is illegally enforcing several unwritten laws on behalf of the local corrupt sheriff. When their latest job goes disastrously wrong and ends in a massacre at the wrong address, the brothers are approached by Celeste, a witness to the mayhem, with a proposal. She’s willing to pay them $25,000 for the safe return of her godson, who has been kidnapped by her ex-husband. What she fails to tell them is that the man in question is a ruthless mobster who believes Celeste is dead, having previously arranged for one of his goons to pump her full of lead.

Unsurprisingly, what should be a simple rescue mission soon turns into a southern fried battle royale of epic proportions as the brothers fall foul of a seemingly endless parade of psychopaths and miscreants who want them dead, ranging from a gang of crazy-ass biker chicks and a pack of ruthless road warriors to Federal agents, crooked cops and some very angry Native Americans.

If you’d like to try and win the copy of The Baytown Outlaws DVD and t-shirt, sign in to the site below (or click here to register) and answer the multiple choice question (see below for more details on how to enter). The competition closes on January 6th, 2013, so get answering and good luck!

WIN! A Midnight’s Children Novel & Poster – To help celebrate the release of the film version

19th December 2012 By Tim Isaac

For many years Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children was deemed unfilmable, but now Deepa Mehta has taken on the task – working from Rushdie’s own script – and has been getting good notices for the end result. The movie reaches UK cinema screens on December 26th, and to celebrate, we’ve got a copy of the novel and a film poster to give away to one lucky person.

Spanning decades and generations, celebrated Canadian filmmaker Deepa Mehta’s highly anticipated adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s Booker Prize®-winning novel is an engrossing allegorical fantasy in which children born on the cusp of India’s independence from Britain are endowed with strange, magical abilities.

Midnight’s Children follows the destinies of a pair of children born at the stroke of midnight on August 15, 1947, the very moment that India claimed its independence from Great Britain – a coincidence of profound consequence for both. “Handcuffed to history,” and switched at birth by a nurse in a Bombay hospital, Saleem Sinai (Satya Bhabha), the son of a poor single mother, and Shiva (Siddharth), scion of a wealthy family, are condemned to live out the fate intended for the other. Imbued with mysterious telepathic powers, their lives become strangely intertwined and inextricably linked to their country’s careening journey through the tumultuous twentieth century.

If you’d like to try and win one of the Midnight’s Children novel and poster that we’ve got to give away, sign in to the site below (or click here to register) and answer the multiple choice question (see below for more details on how to enter). The competition closes on January 1st, 2013, so get answering and good luck!

6th December 2012 By Tim Isaac

To celebrate the release of The Oranges, in cinemas December 7 (cert 15) we have teamed up with Paramount Pictures UK to offer you the chance to win one of five posters of the film.

David and Paige Walling (Hugh Laurie, Catherine Keener) and Terry and Cathy Ostroff (Oliver Platt, Allison Janney) are best friends and neighbors living on Orange Drive in suburban New Jersey.  Their comfortable existence goes awry when prodigal daughter Nina Ostroff (Leighton Meester), newly broken up with her fiancé Ethan (Sam Rosen), returns home for Thanksgiving after a five-year absence.  Rather than developing an interest in the successful son of her neighbors, Toby Walling (Adam Brody), which would please both families, it’s her parents’ best friend David who captures Nina’s attention.

When the connection between Nina and David becomes undeniable, everyone’s lives are thrown into upheaval, particularly Vanessa Walling’s (Alia Shawkat), Nina’s childhood best friend.  It’s not long before the ramifications of the affair begin to work on all of the family members in unexpected and hilarious ways, leading everyone to reawaken to their lives, reassess what it means to be happy, and realize that sometimes what looks like a disaster turns out to be the thing we need.
