WIN! Enlightened – Season 1 DVD Box Sets! – Two copies of the award winning series to give away

11th January 2013 By Tim Isaac

Laura Dern picked up a Golden Globe for her role in Enlightened and now the Complete First Season comes to DVD on 14th January 2013 from HBO Home Entertainment, and we’ve got two copies of the 10-episode release to give away.

Written by Mike White (School of Rock, The Good Girl), ENLIGHTENED stars a critically acclaimed cast including Laura Dern (Little Fockers, Recount) in her Golden Globe®-winning performance as Amy; a self-destructive health and beauty executive who has a very public meltdown.

After three months of contemplation and meditation at a treatment centre in Hawaii, Amy returns to work rested and ready to pick up the pieces of her old life and reshape the world she left behind. That includes delivering well-meaning, but generally unwanted advice to her mother Helen (Diane Ladd, Rambling Rose, Wild at Heart), with whom Amy is now living; her slacker ex-husband Jimmi Levi (Luke Wilson, Old School, The Royal Tenenbaums) whose only solace comes from recreational drugs; and the crew of awkward co-workers Amy finds herself reassigned to.

The series follows Amy as she navigates an unconventional path between who she is, who she wants to be… and what everyone is willing to tolerate from her.

Win A Fantastic Quartet Gardening Goodie Bag! – To celebrate the release of Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut

4th January 2013 By Tim Isaac

Quartet is out in cinemas now – and to celebrate we’ve got two Quartet Gardening Kits to give away courtesy of Momentum Pictures!

Lifelong friends Wilf (Billy Connolly) and Reggie (Tom Courtenay), together with former colleague Cissy (Pauline Collins), are residents of Beecham House, a home for retired opera singers. Every year on Verdi’s birthday, the residents unite to give a concert to raise funds for their home. But when Jean Horton (Maggie Smith), a former grande dame of the opera fallen on hard times, also Reggie’s ex-wife and the fourth and most celebrated member of their former quartet, moves into the home to everyone’s surprise, the plans for this year’s concert start to unravel. As old grudges threaten to undermine past glories and theatrical temperaments play havoc with the rehearsal schedule, it becomes apparent that having four of the finest singers in English operatic history under one roof offers no guarantee that the show will go on.

Quartet is Oscar® winning actor Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut from a screenplay by Oscar® winner Sir Ronald Harwood (The Pianist). Quartet also stars Olivier Award-winning Sheridan Smith (Legally Blonde, The Musical) and four-time BAFTA winner Michael Gambon (the Harry Potter series, Gosford Park).

Quartet was released in the UK and Ireland on 1st January 2013. Courtesy of Momentum Pictures we are running a competition for three of our readers to win a fantastic Quartet gardening kit. The kit includes a bag, gloves, trowel, secateurs and a water spray bottle.

If you’d like to trying and win one of the two kits we’ve got to give away, sign in to the site below (or click here to register) and answer the multiple choice question (see below for more details on how to enter). The competition closes on January 17th, 2013, so get answering and good luck!

WIN! Gangsters, Guns & Zombies DVDs – Get your fix of the Brit genre mash-up

4th January 2013 By Tim Isaac

The genre-mashing movie Gangsters, Guns & Zombies hits DVD on January 7th and to celebrate we’ve got two copies of the movie to give away, courtesy of Lionsgate.

A getaway driver for a group of hard core gangsters finds himself up against a slightly more unexpected enemy than the boys in blue when his latest job coincides with the start of a zombie apocalypse. After completing an armed robbery, getaway driver, Q, thinks that the most difficult job is behind him, at least until he notices that people have started to look and behave very strangely. What started as a simple job now becomes a fight for survival against the ever increasing Zombie horde.

His situation is worsened by the fact that his team are a bunch of nut-cases, one of them has been shot, the safe-house is already surrounded by police, and the getaway vehicle is running out of fuel. This fierce and fast-paced Brit horror pits the scariest bunch of gangsters alive against an army of the undead in the ultimate gangsters vs. zombie showdown!

WIN! A Piranhaconda Monster Movie Pack – Dragon Wasps and Sand Sharks also included

4th January 2013 By Tim Isaac

The meanest gargantuan creature-feature yet is set to arrive on DVD from Chelsea Films on 7th January 2013 – the Roger Corman-produced ‘Piranhaconda’. To celebrate we have an extra special *MONSTROUS* prize package to give-away which will consist of the following monster delights…

SAND SHARKS – A shark that swims in sand?! No, honestly! Sunbathing on a beach has never been the same since this came out earlier this year and I’m not sure whether that’s something to do with the sharks or Brooke Hogan’s (daughter of the mighty Hulk Hogan) acting…

DRAGON WASPS – The ultimate cross breed between timely jungle thrillers like “Predator” and “Anaconda” and giant critter delights such as “Eight Legged Freaks” and “Lake Placid”. Let’s put it this way, “Dragon Wasps” does for bees what “Arachnophobia” did for spiders!

and of course…
PIRANHACONDA – This is undeniably classic Corman. Who else has the ability to merge every single terrifying creature on Earth EVER and still create something so exhilarating it’ll have you begging for more Dr Frankenstein-like creations?!

If you’d like to trying and win the monster movie prize pack that we’ve got to give away, sign in to the site below (or click here to register) and answer the multiple choice question (see below for more details on how to enter). The competition closes on January 17th, 2013, so get answering and good luck!

WIN! Jo Nesbo’s Jackpot DVDs – Three copies of the thriller to give away

3rd January 2013 By Tim Isaac

Jo Nesbo is one of the best-selling Scandinavian authors in the world having sold over 9 million books, so it’s little surprise the world of film has been interested in him. A few months ago the excellent adaptation of Headhunters hit the UK and now it’s the turn of Jackpot, which arrives on DVD on January 9th courtesy of Metrodome. And we’ve got three copies of the film to give away!

Rather than being based on a Nesbo novel, he came up for the story for this one, which follows Oscar Svendsen, who wakes up terrified and bloodied; a shotgun in his hands, in what was once a respectable strip joint near Svinesund, Sweden. He is surrounded by eight bodies, and police detective Solør has a gun aimed at his chest. Solør is convinced of his guilt, but Oscar persistently denies any wrongdoing.

Reluctantly Oscar starts relating the incredible story of four scruffy young men -Oscar (Kyrre Hellum), Thor (Mads Ousdal), Billy (Arthur Berning) and Tresko (Andreas Cappelen) – who won top prize in a soccer pool and suddenly found themselves 1,739,361 kroner richer. But it turned out to be difficult to divide the money by four.

If you’d like to trying and win one of the three copies of the exciting, playful and bloody comedy that we’ve got to give away, sign in to the site below (or click here to register) and answer the multiple choice question (see below for more details on how to enter). The competition closes on January 16th, 2013, so get answering and good luck!
