Directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Contraband, Jar City, 101 Reykjavík), it’s well worth a watch.

WIN! American Horror Story: Asylum On Blu-ray! – The great series hits digital disc

18th October 2013 By Tim Isaac

The strange creepiness of American Horror Story: Asylum hits DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on October 21st, and to celebrate that release, we’ve teamed up with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment to give away three copies of the Blu-ray box set.

The year is 1964 as we’re introduced to the doctors and nuns who occupy the Briarcliff asylum alongside Nazis, mutants, innocents and serial killers, who all make up the fabric of patients. These include Sister Jude (Emmy award-winner Jessica Lange – Cape Fear), Dr. Arthur Arden (James Cromwell – L.A. Confidential), Dr Oliver Thredson (Zachary Quinto – Star Trek) and Kit Walker (Evan Peters – the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past), a patient assumed to be the notorious masked serial killer Bloodyface. As journalist Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson – Martha, Marcy, May Marlene) visits Briarcliff intent on exposing its mistreatment of patients, she unearths unthinkable horrors that could end with her very own imprisonment.

Meanwhile, in the present day, two young adults visiting the now-derelict asylum are stalked by another incarnation of Bloodyface…

Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under) and Dylan McDermott (Olympus Has Fallen) return from the first series of American Horror Story, and they are joined by new additions James Cromwell and Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love). There are also guest appearances from the likes of Ian McShane (Deadwood) and Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine.

WIN! Lifeforce On Blu-ray! – Get your hands on Tobe Hooper’s cult sci-fi

14th October 2013 By Tim Isaac

Arrow Video is pleased to announce the highly anticipated deluxe Blu-ray & SteelBook editions of Tobe Hooper’s cult sci-fi classic Lifeforce. The restored Blu-ray discs are available from October 24th, marking the first time that the movie will be available on this format in the UK. And we’ve teamed up with Arrow to give away three copies of the movie!

When a space shuttle crew finds a mysterious spacecraft containing three human-looking creatures in a state of suspended animation, they bring them back to Earth for further investigation.

It’s only then that scientists discover that they are in fact a race of space vampires that feed off people’s life-force rather than their blood. So when they escape and run amok in London, the consequences are apocalyptic – and the shuttle crew’s only survivor (Steve Railsback) seems to be the only man who can stop them.

Based on Colin Wilson’s novel ‘The Space Vampires’, co-written by Dan O’Bannon (Alien, Return of the Living Dead) and directed by Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Poltergeist), this lively sci-fi horror romp has a stellar cast including Peter Firth, Frank Finlay and Patrick Stewart – although it’s Mathilda May’s appearance as a naked female alien that attracts most attention to this day.

If you’d like to try and win one of the three copies of Lifeforce on Blu-ray that we’ve got to give away, sign in to the site below (or click here to register) and answer the multiple choice question (see below for more details on how to enter). The competition closes on October 27th, 2013, so get answering and good luck!
