Fifty Shades Darker Trailer – Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson get steamy again

fifty-shades-darkerYesterday we got a very brief teaser for Fifty Shades Darker. That’s now been followed by the first full trailer for the movie, which shows us Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson back as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

It all starts off rather suave and sophisticated with a masquerade ball, before getting hot and steamy – as you would expect. However, if then starts to take things in a more obsessive thriller direction, with the introduction of new characters. There’s even a few moments that come across in the trailer like a ghost story, but presumably the movie itself isn’t going supernatural. Perhaps most shocking of all, there are moments when Christian doesn’t come across as a complete tool, and Anastasia doesn’t seem like queen of the wet flannels.

Fifty Shades Darker Teaser – Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson return to the Red Room

fiftty-shades-darker-slideIt might only be short, but our first brief tease of Fifty Shades Darker has arrived. Despite its flaws, the first film grossed over $570 million around the world, so there’s likely to be a fair amount of anticipation for this follow-up.

The very brief synopsis simply says: ‘Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson return as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades Darker, the second chapter based on the worldwide bestselling “Fifty Shades” phenomenon.’ As you can see from the trailer, the duo are still find themselves entwined, despite the events of the first film, with the bondage loving billionaire and young literature student back in each other’s worlds.

Kim Basinger Joins Fifty Shades Darker As Christian Grey’s Former Lover

kim-basingerDespite a critical mauling, Fifty Shades Of Grey ended up being one of the 10 highest grossing movies of 2015 and there are plenty of people out there who can’t wait for the sequels. Anyone who’s read the books will know that there is a major character who doesn’t appear in the first novel, but looms large over the sequels – Elena Lincoln.

Variety reports that Fifty Shades Darker has now found its Elena, as Kim Basinger is in talks for the role. The part is a key one, as Elena is Christian Grey’s business partner and his former lover, who may not be completely over their Red Room romance and isn’t impressed when Christian and Anna begin to grow closer. Her actions becoming increasingly important as the films go on.

Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are both due to return as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, with Luke Grimes as Elliott Grey, Eloise Mumford as Kate, and Max Martini as Taylor. Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has left the franchise behind, with James Foley taking over the role. Both Fifty Shades Darker and the third film, Fifty Shades Freed will shoot this year for release in February 2017 and 2018.
