Collateral Beauty Trailer – Will Smith must be forced to confront his grief by a great cast

7th September 2016 By Tim Isaac

collateral-beauty-slideThis one certainly looks like it might be a bit of Oscar-bait from Will Smith and director David Frankel (Dear Diary, The Devil Wears Prada), working with a very impressive cast. It may also be hoping to jerk some tears with its magical realism over the Christmas period.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘When a successful New York advertising executive (Will Smith) experiences a deep personal tragedy and retreats from life entirely, his colleagues devise a drastic plan to force him to confront his grief in a surprising and profoundly human way.

‘“Collateral Beauty” features an all-star cast, including Will Smith (“Suicide Squad,” “Concussion”), Edward Norton (“Birdman or [The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance]”), Keira Knightley (“The Imitation Game”), Michael Peña (“The Martian”), Naomie Harris (“Spectre”), Jacob Latimore (“The Maze Runner”), with Oscar winners Kate Winslet (“The Reader,” “Steve Jobs”) and Helen Mirren (“The Queen,” “Trumbo”).’

The movie is set to his UK cinemas on December 26th. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

The Dressmaker Trailer – Chic Kate Winslet heads for the Aussie outback & a hunky Luke Hemsworth

27th August 2016 By Tim Isaac

dressmaker-kate-winsletHere’s another one that could be looking for awards come Oscar season – after all, Kate Winslet is a one-woman Oscar nomination machine. It also looks like it could be quite fun, and those who like Luke Hemsworth with his shirt off, should be pleased too.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘THE DRESSMAKER tells the story of the beautiful and talented Tilly Dunnage (Academy Award winner KATE WINSLET). After years working as a dressmaker in exclusive Parisian fashion houses, Tilly returns home to a town in the Australian outback to reconcile with her eccentric mother Molly (Academy Award nominee JUDY DAVIS). She also falls in love with the pure-hearted Teddy (LIAM HEMSWORTH), and armed with her sewing machine and haute couture style, Tilly transforms the women of the town, exacting sweet revenge on those who did her wrong.’

The great cast also includes Hugo Weaving, Caroline Goodall, Shane Bourne, and Kerry Fox. Take a look at the trailer below. It’ll be out in the US in September. [Read more…]

Kate Winslet May Find Collateral Beauty Alongside Will Smith

11th February 2016 By Tim Isaac

kate-winsletThe cast for the the Will Smith movie Collateral Beauty is coming together fast, as just a couple of day after it was revealed Keira Knightley was in talks for the movie, Variety says Kate Winslet has started negotiations to appear in the movie.

The film is about a New York advertising executive (Smith) who experiences a deep personal tragedy. When his colleagues devise an unconventional plan to break him out of his depression, the plan works, but not in a way that anyone imagined. The likes of Helen Mirren, Ed Norton, Michael Pena and Naomie Harris are also attached to star.

Alongside the more conventional elements, there are also actors playing walking embodiments of Love, Time, and Death. It’s not known who Winslet will play, but with Knightley set to be Love, there’s a decent chance she’ll be either Time or Death.

The movie starts shooting in the next couple of weeks in New York City, with David Frankel directing from a script by Allan Loeb. A December 2016 US release is already set, which suggests they’re already thinking this may be an awards contender.

Steve Jobs (Cinema Review)

12th November 2015 By George Elcombe

steve-jobs-slideStarring: Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, Jeff Daniels
Directed By: Danny Boyle
Running Time: 122 Minutes
UK Certificate: 15
UK Release Date: 13th November 2015

Comparable with the iPhone it seems that were are getting a new biopic of Apple’s late founder every few years, which is slightly bigger (and hopefully better) than what came before it. Ultimately though, it’s composed of tried and tested components making the finished piece unoriginal yet appealing to a demographic who takes comfort in being part of a brand and consuming what they have already experienced in a slightly different package.

In 2013 it was Ashton Kutcher playing Steve Jobs, this year it’s Michael Fassbender, and in 2017 I predict Daniel Day-Lewis taking the mantle in a 3 part epic directed by Gus Van Sant (not really).

But however the man is portrayed on screen there is no denying that Steve Jobs was incredibly influential and has left a lasting legacy on this planet through Apple’s consumer products, investment in companies such as Pixar and donating computers to schools around the world. [Read more…]

Triple 9 Trailer – Chitwetel Ejiofor, Casey Affleck, Kate Winslet, Woody Harrelson & Aaron Paul star

11th November 2015 By Tim Isaac

Triple-9---trailer-grab-1Triple 9, from The Road and Lawless director John Hillcoat certainly has a good cast, including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Affleck, Kate Winslet, Woody Harrelson, Aaron Paul, Anthony Mackie, Norman Reedus, Gal Gadot and Clifton Collins Jr.

Now we get our first taste with a trailer, which you can watch below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘When a crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist, they realize the only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down”. The chaos that ensues when a police officer is shot in the line of duty is just the diversion they’ll need to do the job, but whether they have the will to kill one of their own is an entirely different matter. Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action packed finale tangled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.’

The film is due out in the UK on February 19th, 2016. [Read more…]
