The Girl In The Spider’s Web Trailer – Claire Foy becomes the new Lisbeth Salander

12th June 2018 By Tim Isaac

Ever since David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Sony has said they were going to produce a sequel, but they took a long time to decide exactly what they were going to do. Now it’s on its way, with Rooney Mara gone and The Crown’s actress Claire Foy taking over as Lisbeth Salander in a role that’s very different from her Netflix series persona.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Lisbeth Salander, the cult figure and title character of the acclaimed Millennium book series created by Stieg Larsson, will return to the screen in The Girl in the Spider’s Web, a first-time adaptation of the recent global bestseller. Golden Globe winner Claire Foy, the star of “The Crown,” will play the outcast vigilante defender under the direction of Fede Alvarez, the director of 2016’s breakout thriller Don’t Breathe; the screenplay adaptation is by Steven Knight and Fede Alvarez & Jay Basu.’

The movie is due out Novermber 9th. Take a look at the trailer and first poster below. [Read more…]

Halloween Trailer – Michael Myers is back terrifying Jamie Lee Curtis

12th June 2018 By Tim Isaac

Every so often Jamie Lee Curtis is convinced to return to the Halloween franchise – with mixed results. However, this time there’s a fair amount of interest in the new instalment, not just because of Curtis but because series creator John Carpenter is serving as a creative consultant and David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, All The Real Girls, Stronger) is directing. He also co-wrote the script alongside Danny McBride.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Master of horror John Carpenter will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity).  Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.’

The movie is due in cinemas in October. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Serenity Trailer – Matthew McConaughey & Anne Hathaway get back together for a Thriller

12th June 2018 By Tim Isaac

Sadly this has nothing to do with Joss Whedon’s sci-fi series Firefly or its follow-up movie, also called Serenity. Instead it’s a stylised, sexy thriller which reunites Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway for the first time since Interstellar. Perhaps the best reason to be excited though is that it’s from writer and director Steven Knight (Locke, Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promises).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The mysterious past of a fishing boat captain comes back to haunt him, when his ex-wife tracks him down with a desperate plea for help, ensnaring his life in a new reality that may not be all that it seems.’

The movie is due out is the autumn. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

A Star Is Born Trailer – Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper star in the long-gestating remake

6th June 2018 By Tim Isaac

The 1936 movie A Star Is Born has already had two remakes (featuring Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand), and for several years another one has been in the works. At one point Clint Eastwood was directing with Beyonce slated for the central role. When that fell through, Bradley Cooper stepped in to both act in the movie and to make it his feature directorial debut, with Lady Gaga signed up to show off her acting skills.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“A Star is Born” stars four-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper (“American Sniper,” “American Hustle,” “Silver Linings Playbook”) and multiple award-winning, Oscar-nominated music superstar Lady Gaga, in her first leading role in a major motion picture. Cooper helms the drama, marking his directorial debut.

‘In this new take on the tragic love story, he plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers—and falls in love with—struggling artist Ally (Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer… until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.

‘The cast of “A Star is Born” also includes Andrew Dice Clay, with Dave Chappelle and Sam Elliott.

‘In addition to playing Ally, Gaga, who earned her Oscar nod for the song “Til It Happens to You” from “The Hunting Ground,” performs original songs in the film, which she wrote with Cooper and a handful of artists, including Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell and Mark Ronson. All the music is original and was recorded live.’

A Star Is Born is due out in October. Take a look at the first trailer and poster below. [Read more…]
