Matthew McConaughey is getting his running shoes on – or actually he’s taking them off – as he’s joined the adaptation of Christopher McDougalls bestselling non-fiction book, Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Super Athletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen, according to Variety.
The book, ‘follows a journalist and often-injured runner who headed for Mexicos Copper Canyons to find out how the Tarahumara Indians honed the ability to run hundreds of miles without rest or injury.’
McDougall begins to learn the secrets of the Indians barefoot running talents as he prepares to take part in a 50-mile race against the tribe and a number of American runners, including an ultra-marathoner, a young surfer and another barefoot running prodigy.
The book sold more than 2 million copies just in the US and helped spark a ‘barefoot’ running craze.
Matthew Michael Carnahan (World War Z) wrote the screenplay, although no director is involved at the moment.
