A few days ago the main female cast for Jem and the Holograms was announced. Now one more name has been added with THR reporting that Ryan Guzman with play Holograms’ road manager and technical engineer Rio, who is also Jem’s love interest.
Based on the popular 80s toyline and cartoon series, Ryan Landels wrote the script which centers on an orphaned teenage girl who becomes an online recording sensation. She and her a couple of other orphans embark on a music-driven scavenger hunt one that sends them on an adventure across Los Angeles in an attempt to unlock a final message left by her father.
Aubrey Peeples will be Jem/Jerrica, Stefanie Scott is Jem’s sister Kimber, Aurora Perrineau will be Shana, with Hayley Kiyoko as Aja. Nathan Moore has also been cast in the role of hired thug Zipper.
Guzman is best known for appearing in Step Up Revolution and a recurring role in Pretty Little Liars. He will next be seen in Step Up All In.
