Back in December director Bryan Singer revealed that while Anna Paquin had spent a few days on the X-Men: Days Of Future Past set, reprising her role as Rogue, her scene had ended up on the cutting room floor.
However now further editing and reshoots has put her back in, with 20th Century Fox is confirming that the actress will feature in the movie.
When it appeared she’d been cut, Singer said, “Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it. She did a fantastic job. She was awesome in the sequence. She’s a brilliant actress. I would work with her in a heartbeat. She completely understood. It’s very disappointing, but she’s very professional and she knows that stuff happens, particularly with material you shoot early on in production. Films evolve.”
That seemed to be it for the return of Rogue, even though she continued to be used in some marketing materials. Then people noticed her name in the end credits for recent final trailer, which caused a Fox representative to confirm her return, while cautioning that, “Essentially, [it’s] a cameo.”
You’ll be able to see exactly how much Rogue we’ll get in May.
