With increased competition for the very best dates, Studios are setting the releases for their movies earlier and earlier – in the case of Marvel, they’re happy to announce a release date for a movie even when they won’t say what that film is.
A couple of weeks ago Marvel Studios announced the release of two films on May 6th, 2016 and May 5th, 2017, but wouldn’t say what they were. Now there’s another, as they’ve a set July 8th, 2016 release date for yet another unspecified movie.
While no details have been given regarding these untitled Marvel movies, they’re part of the studio’s Marvel Phase Three plans, which kick off with Ant-Man on November 6th, 2015, just a few months after Marvel Phase Two comes to a close with The Avengers 2 on May 1st, 2015.
However, it is known that for Phase Three Marvel is developing Doctor Strange and Black Panther projects, and of course there may also be more standalone Thor and Captain America movies (but not Iron Man, as while RDJ will be in the next two Avengers movies, he currently doesn’t want an Iron Man 4). At the moment we’ll just have to wait to see what these movies turn out to be.
In addition, Disney has issued a March 13th, 2015 release date for Cinderella, which has Lily James, Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden, Holly Grainger, Sophie McShera, and Helena Bonham Carter attached to star. Kenneth Branagh’s live-action fairy tale will start shooting later this year.
