While the Angelina Jolie starring Tomb Raider movies weren’t a disaster, most people would agree that they didn’t make the most of the videogames they were based on. Now, with the games having a reboot, Hollywood is planning a new take for the movies as well, and they’ve hired Marti Noxon to write the script.
Noxon made her name as a writer and producer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and has since worked as a consulting producer on the likes of Glee and Mad Men. She also wrote the screenplays of I Am Number Four and the recent Fright Night remake.
Graham King (GK Films) and MGM have been trying to get a new Tomb Raider movie off the ground for a while now, and hope that Noxon’s involvement will help push it forward. However there’s no news on the take the new film will give the material, or whether it will follow the darker tone of the latest revamp of the games.
