There’s been a lot of interest in Greek mythology in the last few years, but now Alex Proyas (Dark City, I Robot) is hoping people will enjoy a bit on Ancient Egyptian fun, as he’s busy planning the fantasy epic Gods Of Egypt.
Now he’s got his lead actor, as he’s cast Game Of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as sky god Horus. TheWrap reports that the film ‘is set in ancient Egypt against the legendary world of great pyramids and sphinxes… Horus, the god of the sky, teams up with a human thief and Hathor, the goddess of love, on a magical quest to avenge the death of his father, Osiris.’
Hopefully this project will have more luck than Proyas’ taken on Paradise Lost, which was fully cast and ready to go, before it got cancelled due to worries about the budget and its box office prospects. It could certainly make for an interesting movie.
