It finally felt like The Man From U.N.C.L.E. movie was a go. After years in development, Guy Ritchie was set to direct with Tom Cruise and Armie Hammer starring. However reports that just a few months after signing on in March, Tom Cruise has bowed out of the movie.
Cruise apparently want to concentrate on Mission: Impossible 5, which is due to shoot later this year.
Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander are still locked in to star though, so the project hasn’t completely collapse, and Warner Bros. wants to find a replacement for Tom Cruise very soon, so production can begin this autumn.
The film is based on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. TV series, which followed two agents from United Network Command for Law Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.), who try to stop the evil-doers from Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity (T.H.R.U.S.H.).
While Tom Cruise could have likely shot The Man from U.N.C.L.E. before Mission: Impossible 5 starts at the end of this year, the actor is deeply involved in the production as both a star and producer, so he didn’t want to split his time.
